The Royal Lion Hotel, hotel in Lyme Regis

In the centre of Lyme Regis, just 150 metres from the beach, the Royal Lion Hotel has a pool, sauna and games room. Some rooms have sea views and balconies.

The food served was excellent, we also ate an evening meal, with excellent choice of menu and served well. The staff were very accommodating and allowed us to have breakfast in the bar, with our dog, and the breakfast was brought down to us.

The Mariners Hotel, hotel in Lyme Regis

Featuring sea views, The Mariners Hotel is nestled in the heart of Lyme Regis. Dating back to the 17th century, this former coaching inn has a large private garden and rooms with free WiFi access.

Staff were really friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was superbly cooked and presented. The room had just be re-decorated and the bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve slept in! I live in a small, quiet country hamlet, but this hotel even beat home for solitude - just wonderful and peaceful😴

We arrived in late afternoon on the eve of D-Day+80, and after half term was over, so it was pleasantly empty! We were working there on a video production so focussed in that, eating in an Indian restaurant in town that was superb and seeing the basic sights and waterfront after the majority of visitors had left, so, in our opinion we saw Lyme Regis at its best. If you like crowds - which we don’t - the weekends and summer holiday season will be just what you want. If you want peace and quiet the off season will be perfect for you.

I loved Lyme Regis. Things to remember:

I loved Lyme Regis. Things to remember: •If you're renting a car, rent a small one. •Don't bring large bills. Most businesses want card interactions or coins/small bills. Great restaurants, nice shops, picturesque setting, dog loving community. Go - be sure to not schedule every minute. Give yourself time to wander and enjoy the town!

    A beautiful Dorset resort.

A beautiful Dorset resort. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Some lovely walks and great beaches. I would recommend it to anyone. Harbour inn for Sunday lunch, Millside restaurant for an evening meal. You need need to book in advance to prevent disappointment. Plenty of Bars on the sea front, places to eat and drink and ice cream shops. Watch out for the always hungry seagulls.

Lyme Regis was a perfect base for exploring the Jurassic coast. The town is clean and well kept. There is a good selection of shops and a couple of small supermarkets but also independent bakers. The museum is worth a visit and the micro brewery. The staff in hotels, shops and restaurants are so friendly and helpful. There is plenty to do in and around the town which boasts an excellent beach and nice walks. It is easy to catch a bus east or west. Lyme Regis has a lovely atmosphere with families and dogs milling around happily. We were lucky to have good weather 9 days out of 10! All in all it exceeded our expectations!

    People very friendly and helpful.

People very friendly and helpful. Car parking is not great and you can only stay for a max of 3 hrs, no return for 4hrs in ncp in the town. Park and ride was closed! Car parks further out if you don't mind a walk. Found a great pub, The Ship Inn on our way from car park, had lunch and returned for dinner!

This was my second visit to the charming Mariner Hotel in Lyme Regis and there had been many positive updates since my first visit over thirty years ago. The dining/breakfast room now has glass doors looking out over the garden and we enjoyed our delicious breakfast every sitting in that bright room with it's seaside views. A few things might have made our stay even more pleasant, like soap at the bathroom sink to wash hands and washcloths, but we were delighted with our room. The staff were impeccable!

The apartment was beautifully presented on arrival. Directions to the property and access instructions were very good and simple. The property is located a short walk from the main areas of Lyme Regis and the Sea Front. The walk does entail a steepish hill but this should not challenge the able-bodied. The hot-tub, at the bottom of the garden, only a short walk from the entrance door, is a luxurious facility to be included. Nice touch - a lovely box of Dorset biscuits await your arrival.

Lovely room with a glorious view, and with plenty of options for eating and drinking. However, most things in Lyme Regis close at 5pm, so only the big chain stores (Tesco for example) are available. It is also worth noting, that there is also a lot on offer for all diets and requirements in the town. No complaints about the accomodation itself.

This was a great location for walking into Lyme Regis and the beachfront with parking for the car. The room had a lovely sea view and was bright and sunny. Breakfast was really good too, with proper sausages and bacon in the fry up. The owners were very helpful and welcoming, lending us a map for a walk and helping us with restaurant recommendations.

All of us loved our stay at the Royal Lion Hotel. All of the staff were so friendly and made us feel at home from the first minute we arrived until our departure. The location was amazing too, and there was a nice big car park. The added bonus was a terrific games room with a full-size snooker table!

A good location in Lyme regis - though the hotel is up a quite steep road. Lyme Regis is a good base for walking sections of the south coast path and is well accessible by public transport. The staff when I checked in to the hotel were very friendly and helpful.
