This is a lovely hotel with beautiful facilities. Spacious rooms with a modern bathroom. Very friendly staff and delicious breakfasts. A very nice bar where one can relax in the evening. Walking distance from the University, which we visited for business purposes. Also within walking distance of the beautiful shopping street, and if you're up for a steep climb, you can even walk to the cathedral and the castle. It is truly beautiful.

The location was fantastic, right in the centre of Lincoln and a stones throw from the Cathedral. The room we had was enormous with a fantastic four poster bed and a seperate lounge and a large bathroom with a bath and a shower. Ad to this the view across to the castle and we were very impressed.

FAQs about hotels in Lincoln

The Glory of Medieval England

Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.

Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.

This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.

Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.

Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

I have visited Lincoln before and have a family member there. This time we were on the way to Newark for me to be dropped off for a train going North. The hotel is in a lovely part of Lincoln and has a great cocktail lounge. We went out to eat in a Thai restaurant nearby which was lovely but breakfast and the facility for a morning drink of coffee and tea in our room was poor.

Lincoln has it all - an historic cathedral quarter, with lots of independent shops, restaurants and bars, cobbled streets and roman walls and ruins. There is the waterfront area on the Brayford, and a lovely pedestrianised shopping area. There are plenty of good places to stay in the various areas of the city. Lincoln castle is well worth a visit, as of course is the cathedral. There are so many good restaurants, with a real variety of cuisines. One of our favourites is Ole Ole tapas restaurant at The Lawn.

An interesting and beautiful city which in recent years has become more aware of it's visitor potential, a near unique setting with the castle and cathedral near each other at the top of an attractive (or challenging?) hill, with more modern developments downhill. Lots of history, plenty of cafes and restaurants, also numerous good pubs many of which are historic and independant. I may be biased, I was born there but now live elsewhere, but yes, it's a great little city.

The castle is a wonder, so much to see and learn about.

The castle is a wonder, so much to see and learn about. The walk around the castle walls especially give you a great view of the city. You could look around the prison cells and watch videos of people who were imprisoned there. Also the Magna Carta was on view. A very interesting place to visit and to walk around the grounds. The cathedral is also a lovely place to look around. Steep Hill has some quaint shops and places to buy afternoon tea and many other foods. Beware its a long steep walk on the way back up! We only had a day there but enjoyed every moment.

Cathedral and castle are both very well worth a lengthy visit. Some really interesting old streets in the upper town are really interesting, but on very steep slopes. The walking tour which starts from near the cathedral and lasts for about 90 minutes is very interesting and excellent value. The waterfront in the lower town is also very pleasant.

Lovely hotel located very close to Lincoln city centre. Bars, restaurants and shopping areas are all available within a very short walking distance. The rooms are well above average, depending on which part of the hotel you are situated in. A room with a view over Brayford wharf is our particular favourite both night and day. The dining experience is none too shabby either, the breakfast especially is really good, vast choices on offer. Room service is also available.

A nice change from the usual chain hotels. Receptionist was welcoming and friendly, the room was immaculately clean and well appointed, and the whole place has been tastefully converted from its former life as a chapel. It’s very close to the castle and cathedral, in what is almost certainly the best area of Lincoln. Lots of bars/restaurants/cafes just round the corner. Really one of the nicest places we have stayed in recently. A bonus is free car parking.

No frills hotel located just off the Lincoln bypass, ideal if you are planning on exploring the local area, although you will need to drive or use public transport to get to the city centre. Generously sized room with double bed and basic amenities. Dinning facilities, including breakfast, are provided by the affiliated American diner style restaurant across the way from the hotel.

We always stay at The Tower Hotel when we stay in Lincoln. The food is fabulous… evening meals are amazing as is the breakfast… plenty to choose from at breakfast. Excellent value for money. The hotel itself is great… location, near to the castle, parking over the road which is reasonable… just over £10 for 24hours. The bar area is lovely and the staff are wonderful.
