Our 4th Stay at the Wonderful The Hedgehog innkeeper my husband and I annually stay here , traveling from Switzerland home to Staffordshire … I can honestly say “it’s like home from home!!!” The staff are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them, always smiling, happy and working SO hard!! including the hard working housekeeping team. our room was AMAZING.. so much space!!! comfy mattress … immaculate bedding.. flat screen tv and complimentary beverages. we dined with family in the restaurant, perfectly placed on the plate and the palate I have to say great size portions OUTSTANDING food & breakfast !!! fabulous cosy vibe, snug and warm with the fire place lit we’ll see you again this year ☺️ tiny hint … wished the rooms had a cool box or mini fridge would be amazing + for storing fresh milk 😉)

Phil was exceptionally helpful. Really quick at responding to messages. On arrival the apartment's appearance was very clean and tidy with good attention to detail. There is a dishwasher, and a washing machine. Tea, coffee & hot chocolate, with milk sachets in the fridge. The apartment was very spacious with two lovely sized bedrooms. Good quality bedding, {this makes a huge difference to a good night sleep) The bathroom is also large, with a huge shower. Great size towels, and decent toilet paper and hand soap. This is one of the comfy, clean well presented places I've stayed. Ideal locations too as you have a good size parking space. The cul-de-sac was very quiet. The bed was very comfy & I slept really well. Curtains & blinds, are a great touch and not overlooked either.

Living within a short distance of Lichfield I sometimes take...

Living within a short distance of Lichfield I sometimes take the city for granted but Lichfield is a beautiful little compact city with lots to see and do and with plenty of boutique like shops, and restaurants. At night the city comes to life with a plethora of bars, cocktail bars and restaurants catering for all types of food from around the world, from Indian, to Thai, classic English to Japanese and lots in between. And of course not forgetting the majestic Cathedral with its Gothic appearance and three imposing spires.

Lichfield is a small and pretty city with a wealth of...

Lichfield is a small and pretty city with a wealth of history and culture. A magnificent Cathedral adjacent to the Minster pool and Beacon Park. There are many and varied cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes. The National Memorial Arboretum is only 15 minutes away, by car, and a highly recommended place to visit.

I was only in Lichfield for one night as I was taking part in the VJ Service on Saturday 16th August 2025, from what I saw of the city and the facilities it looks a place that you need some time to explore.

I was born in Lichfield and raised in the nearby village of Whittington, so this was a sort of nostalgia-trawl for me. In addition, thoroughly enjoyed the wide variety of shops and restaurants, the 'ancient' feel to the place, and better weather than I remember! Good food at Pizza by Goli and ASK Italian. Everyone delightfully friendly and chatty. And a very clean city.

Old character hotel - loved it. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful room and comfortable bed. Breakfast was lovely and served in a amazing room. Food was exceptional and all cooked fresh. Great location walk into the city centre with loads of choice of restaurants. Stayed for two nights and felt like a princess .. Highly recommend to stay whilst in Lichfield or surrounding area ..

You know what you're getting with HIEX and this hotel was no exception. Near to motorway links. Modern facilities, Comfy beds, Tasty breakfast, Friendly staff. Short drive to Lichfield Town centre and to National Arboretum, which was why we were in the area.
