Leven is on the train line now, about an hour from Edinburgh...

Leven is on the train line now, about an hour from Edinburgh. It's a bit of a one-horse town with only 1 restaurant open after 8pm, apart from a 60s style steak-house. If you're vegetarian, vegan, or lactose intolerant you're going to have problems eating in the evening.

Well situated to travel to Edinburgh by train (Leven rail station) superb promenade , excellent beach . St Andrews close by & all the fishing villages along the coast make Leven an excellent base to explore the aforementioned + much more in/ around this area

The beaches near Leven, Lower Largo and north are fantastic.

The beaches near Leven, Lower Largo and north are fantastic. If you have dogs or just like a walk and like to explore then these beaches are for you. If you’re a golfer then you officially in heaven because the area is covered in courses. Remember it’s Scotland so no bad weather, just the wrong clothes!!!

Nice beaches and plenty of walks which we did. Great fresh air and exercise I like the Fife area. Our aunt and cousin's live in the area and we normally come up twice or three times a year to visit them and meet up.

Having lived in the Leven area for 20 years it was lovely to come back and realise how beautiful it is. It is ideal for families on holiday as it isn't crowded and there are lots of activities for the children and adults

Not a lot to do in Leven itself, the precinct was pretty...

Not a lot to do in Leven itself, the precinct was pretty drab. The Windsor pub was fine for a blether with the locals. Base pizza was fine. Nice golf courses and decent food in the clubhouse. Beach was pretty good, not busy. Plenty small villages with character along the coast to visit, then the busy St Andrews ,with plenty shops, a bit of a fight for a parking spot. Will return at some point.

Great menu with plenty of options & the food was lovely. Property is right next to the beach front & easy walking distance to the town centre. Beautiful house, very clean with big airy rooms & good beds. Proprietors are very welcoming, friendly & accomodating...and also very helpful with local information. The nearby town centre has plenty of shops & eating places inc a few hotels & golf club restaurants.

Very warm personal welcome. Welcome sign outside the room and personal welcome message on a postcard of the hotel inside the room Tunnocks tea cakes as well as shortbread with tea and coffee facilities. Fabulously comfortable bed. Gorgeous toiletries. Sea view room with tide coming up to the wall outside.

Lots of personal touches , the uniqueness of the sea lapping up against the wall of the hotel, it was lovely listening to this at night ,the staff who were always on hand ,lots of outside space when the sun comes out , a really unique rustic hotel, loved the upstairs dining room .
