We loved the little shops and pubs, the calmness of the Scilly Isles and the honesty of everything. Being in Hugh Town felt like going back in time to when shops didn't have to lock up expensive items and alcohol. Everyone in the shops was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. We would love to visit again.

Going off peak meant it was nice & quiet. Plenty to watch down at the quay & hotels & bars ooen wihout the queues. Very friendly community.
Recommend the Mermaid Inn & Tregarthen's Hotel for food, also the Atlantic but a bit more basic. Star Castle the best though for atmosphere & food. Recommend the Island Tour from Holgate Green - amusing & interesting.

Pleasant small town with a good range of pubs and eating places. Reasonable but fairly limited range of shops. Easy access to quay side and boats to the other islands on the Isles of Scilly. Also terminus for the only bus service that circulates around St Marys Island.

We made the trip to go on the Pelagic Cruises and some sight-seeing in the Islea of Scilly generally. Plenty of eateries in Hugh Town - but pretty slow service - gave up on one when told 25mins to wait for lunch order. Didn't look round Hugh Town particularly as not interested in shopping/beach. Tourist Info pretty good.

Exceeded our expectations, beautiful cottage, top quality fittings,every possible need catered for, well appointed kitchen. Ideally situated so close to tranquil Porthcressa beach and all Hugh Town facilities.
Very welcoming hosts.Elaine gave us advice about where to visit and eat out. On arrival kindly had milk and orange in fridge for us plus locally made ice cream and millionaires shortbread!
We found the beach chairs provided very handy.

A very well managed and located manor-type hotel, with comfortable rooms, a pleasant lounge and conservatory,a most inviting terrace and bar, and excellent breakfast and a tasty « bistronomical » restaurant, with a pleasant wine menu.
A smart luggage management system, insures your bags have a straight between your room and your boat or air travel.

Beautiful gardens and excellent food. Also liked that each morning we were asked what our plans for the day were and boat times to the islands available in the hotel. Also great location seeing all the other islands from their grounds and able to explore the garrison from the hotel. Great for the dogs and the Hotel even had its own peacock!

Location was excellent. Nice clean and fresh hotel. Very well appointed and cared for rooms and restaurant. Outside bar are with view of the bay wonderful. All staff were exceptional. From the check in desk, to breakfast, and everyone else we came across. Made an awesome stay even more fun. Can’t rate it highly enough.
