Good location, very spacious, nice interior in living and sleeping room. We didn’t use it, but there even was a proper espresso machine in the kitchen.

Clean and tidy. Staff friendly and helpful. A bit warm up on the top floor and a bit noisy with the window open so sleep was difficult. Lovely breakfast.

I booked a single room but due to the fact that my boyfriend accidentally joined me, we had to ask for a larger room, which was possible. The room was clean and spacious and contained everything we needed. The interior is a little bit old-fashioned but it’s a matter of taste

A really lovely hotel. Food (breakfast and dinner) was amazing (apart from Tart Tatin very soggy pastry). Staff professional, helpful and friendly.
Disappointed couldn’t have a cocktail at bar. However, a fab place to stay.

Excellent holiday let.
Excellent holiday let. Immaculate, well equipped, comfortable, rooms, all a good size. Off road parking. Close to village supermarket. Easy access to local sights of interest, Castle of Mey, John O'Groats etc. Very good value.
The perfect getaway. Achmeney pod sits 3 miles from Halkirk in a peaceful quiet rural area. The pod is surprisingly bigger than it looks. It comfortably accommodates 2 with a double bedroom, kitchen and living area with its own toilet and shower. The bed was cozy and the pod is well insulated so always nice and warm. On arrival Andrea came and met us and showed us around and how to work the hot tub. ( the hot tub is amazing lol) will definitely recommend to friends and family and will definitely come back again
Slightly off the beaten track to Thurso, so in a quiet and peaceful location, yet still handy for the ferry to Orkney. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout. Decor was simple and effective, with furniture of very high quality in the public rooms and the bedroom. Food was being served in the bar - which was again tastefully furnished , the bar itself being tucked away from the eating area. The menu choices were good, and the food was cooked well. This hotel is a little treasure.
Amazingly good staff - especially the receptionists and waitresses. Interesting hotel. Full of anglers when we visited. Located on the bank of the River Thurso. Easy drive to Thurso, Wick and John O'Groats. Our room was one of two larger ones on the top (second) floor - very spacious and clean. Unusual bathroom arrangements in the room - quirky but fun. Good cooked breakfast. Enjoyable and well-presented evening meal.
The villa was ideal for our party of 4 and was also dog friendly, a big plus for us. The villa was very clean and bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom had plenty of space. Very comfortable beds. Also, good parking space adjacent to villa. Villa is owned by the nearby Ulbster Arms hotel. We had couple of meals at hotel and both were excellent and the staff were very pleasant and professional at all times.
lovely old hotel sitting on edge of River Thurso , beautiful decor inside , friendly and helpful staff , and the foo from breakfast to the resturant was delicous , best i've had for a scottish hotel .would highly recommend if staying in this area
This is a really dog friendly hotel
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Young staff managing bar and bar meals were hard working and lovely.
Food was great.
Loved the library area to sit and have drinks.
Good distance from the Orkney ferry.
We were put in a deluxe lodge instead as our booked accommodation was no longer available. The lodge was part of the nearby Ulbster Arms Hotel also owned by the owners which was fantastic. Food at the hotel was very good.
Fantastic location, with easy reach of the north and east coasts, providing easy access to beaches, historic sites and walks. Convenient shop in Halkirk and great meal at the local Ulbster Arms made eating easy.
Beautiful older hotel in village of Halkirk and a 15 minute drive to Thurso. Most clients there for fishing on the River Thurso next to the hotel - nice walks. Very well maintained and wonderful breakfast!
