The large ensuite Bathroom was recently renovated with modern facilities. Sarah our host was delightful and very helpful . 1 Star Cottage should be 5 STAR🌟 Cottage. Absolutely beautiful warm home, very well equipped and lovely location to explore the West of the Island. The bathrooms are lovely, the kitchen accessories ticked all needs. The living room is warm and welcoming. Everything was so easy to use. Great location near the beach. Quiet secluded residential area. Parking for two cars at the front of the property. Lovely big house with 3 bedrooms. One double on the ground floor, two rooms with 2 single beds upstairs with their own toilet. Everything was nice and clean. Comfortable bed. Good kitchen facilities. Conservatory into the garden.

Freshwater was ok but the beach was not dog friendly so we went to Compton beach a few times, the dog loved it. The Red lion pub served lovely food but you have to book, it gets a bit busy, but the Vine pub serves proper pub grub and their homemade pies were delicious , booking is also recommended but not vital.

We really enjoyed our meal at The Red Lion. The Piano Cafe is worth a mention too for a delicious lunch and friendly service. Freshwater Bay is only a short drive away and the beach is lovely and sandy when the tide goes out a bit. There are lots of paths clearly signposted if you want to go for a walk and explore the countryside a bit more.

Quiet and short walk river . Ideal for us to visit relations and venues . Cottage situated in lovely place for us and had wow factor soon as soon . We were able to do all we wanted and more . We ate at Arreton Arms and Osbourne House okus as visiting sister in law at hers. Brading for Lilliput museum

I thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon walk that began just down the road from where I stayed at Weston Manor. Left at the Highdown Inn pub at the end of Moons Hill which is about a mile west of Freshwater Bay; to the National Trust car park, and from there up to the cliffs on a circular, well sign-posted walk, where I saw the Tennyson (poet) memorial or monument which looked great against the sunset as the light faded. Freshwater itself is a nice enough place with all the conveniences, shops and cafe's etc. Had lovely fried breakfast in cafe opposite sainsbury's. The beach there at Freshwater Bay is small but scenic with some huge rocks, like the needles only smaller. I spent a relaxing half-hour enjoying the view of them from the pub opposite, which also does tea and coffee, which was handy as tea is more my tipple nowadays!

Lovely location with shops and restaurants nearby. The ferry and day trips easily accessible. We visited needles for the day and did the cable chair, a boat ride and chilling on the pebble beach. Visited Jaffran restaurant for some Pakistani food, great service and tasty food. Went to Shanklin for the day and spent tje day on the beach.

The nicest end of the island - not built up, great views of the sea and countryside, ample really good walks - long and short. Less than 10 minutes drive from very attractive, sophisticated Falmouth - interesting busy marina if you like boats/yachts

A 2-night stay beyond expectations at Stroud House. The hostess Sarah was lively, attentive, ever-helpful and informative, and you could not help but feel privileged to be a part of this characterful listed house in the heart of West Wight. The highly recommended Red Lion Inn is only a 10 minute stroll away, and just beyond it, the head of the River Yar, for good walks, north to Yarmouth, or south to Freshwater Bay. Were we to ever (hopefully) return to West Wight, we'd try our best to ensure we'd return to Stroud House

The secluded cabin was in an amazing location - close to a number of beaches and all the shops and restaurants Freshwater has to offer. It had all the amenities you could need and made for a very relaxing weekend stay. Sarah, the host, was especially helpful in offering recommendation for the local area.

Nice location close to some walks along the river. Freshwater has 2 a decent pubs, a Tesco and Sainsbury’s local. Easy access to rest of the island and quieter than the east side of the island during the holiday season. The accommodation was compact but had what you need for a short break.
