Folkestone is a very nice town.

Folkestone is a very nice town. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around — everything you need is nearby.” We had delicious fish and chips at The Ship Inn pub. It’s a cozy and welcoming spot right by the beach.”

We visited Capel le Ferne the Battle of Britain Memorial on the 104 bus route. We explored the harbour and walked right to the end where the small lighthouse bar is (not open as weather was a bit stormy). We visited St. Peter's Church where husband's parents were married. Went around the town exploring shops. We walked up the zig zag path on the L:eas and spent the day at the Annual Train Fair in the theatre overlooking the sea. Looking forward to returning when the Road of Remembrance is re-opened (disappointed it is still closed) and the cliff tram - hurry up and get it started again! Please don't build flats on the sea front - keep Folkestone sea front beautiful as it always has been. Congratulations on the restoration of the old platform on the harbour - it looks great and the small railway carriages serving food in summer. Looking forward to coming back for all the improvemnets!

Folkestone has retained much of its old world charm.

Folkestone has retained much of its old world charm. It is a very old town with a lot of interesting history, from smuggling to being a main port for departure and arrival from France for many years. It is surrounded by gently rolling hills and is only about a 45 minute drive to Canterbury. Folkestone's main shopping street has many small shops as well as a Sainsbury, Asda and Lidl store all close by. The old high street is very picturesque with a steep slope and a cobbled road. Folkestone harbour is a good place to visit and there is both a sandy beach and shingle beaches.

We booked an overnight stay as we have stayed at the hotel before several times and found that it’s a good central location for the harbour etc. the buffet was disappointing. It was much better the previous time we stayed. The food was not enjoyable. We enjoyed the evening entertainment, so we will return and skip the buffet dinner.

Folkestone is just up and coming enough that it is still...

Folkestone is just up and coming enough that it is still funky, but also general feels safe. The arts quarter and harbour are particularly worth a visit with excellent art galleries, great bakeries and interesting options for street food or fairly priced restaurant food. Mermaid beach and The Leas are especially beautiful, but there are a lot of steep slopes and steps, so you need to be reasonably fit.

Arranged to stay for 1 night at the last minute for a stop off. Had a great stay without knowing much about Folkestone or the area around the hotel. It's safe to say that we will be back at some point. The staff that we met were very helpful and welcoming. The room itself was amazing. Very clean, modern, and plenty of space. Amenities available in the room were great, lots of sockets and USB points.

This charming hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Folkestone harbour, making it an ideal choice for those seeking seaside adventures. The hotel is pet-friendly, with an additional supplement of £20 for furry companions. While guests can enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel's bar downstairs, it's unfortunate that dogs are not permitted in that area

What did I like? Well. It’s a hotel shaped a bit like a ferry. Gold star for that. The bartender had the perfect mix of distain and indifference. He was awesome. Decor was outstanding. It’s been a while since I was reminded so strongly of the UK in the late seventies. The location is great if you want to be by the sea and very central to Folkestone.
