I didn’t expect this hotel such a lovely place for one night short stay before we heading towards Edinburgh (coming from the Loch Ness). It was surrounded in natural but the great Lunan bay beach was just around the corner. The room was spacious and facilities worked well. The photos posted here didn’t show its full charm. I highly recommend it if you are doing a road trip and take it as a stopover between the Loch Ness and the Arbroath cliffs.

Perfect for us with our two dogs, loads of areas nearby for walks, plenty privacy even with hosts below, wouldn’t know anyone was there. Good location for eating out, shops etc. The town in general is also very dog friendly which made everything a lot easier too. This is our second stay here and we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Although it lacks facilities, Ferryden is close enough to Montrose for this not to matter. It is ideally placed for visiting the Montrose Basin wildlife centre, as well as places further afield on the Angus tourist route.

Ferryden is a quiet neighbourhood, well placed for visiting the Montrose Basin wildlife centre and with easy access to the wider Angus area. There are walks locally and easy access to the beach. The village is compact, but lacks places to eat out, so a (reasonable) walk, drive or bus journey to Montrose is necessary.
