FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Fun, walkable city. Tons to do for all ages. Great food and atmosphere. Amazing people, plenty of nature hikes close to the city and beautiful views. Lots of museums. Easy access to other attractions using public transportation. Trains and buses are pretty reliable. Tip: dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes with a good grip.

It is very busy, but has exceptional medieval and Georgian architecture and is very walkable for a visitor. Being a Capital city also means there are excellent museums and other historic attractions. The Royal Yacht tour is superb.

Great city/ walkable but good bus/ tram services.

Great city/ walkable but good bus/ tram services. The Christmas markets were fabulous & easy to access. The main shopping mall had all the shops you needed but other streets had great independent retailers. We found a great Italian restaurant in the centre too 👍

Edinburgh is definitely one of my top cities.

Edinburgh is definitely one of my top cities. The gothic vibe, old cemeteries, and dark, striking buildings create a real character that is genuine, not commercial. The museums are amazing, free and well-organized, making you want to take your time and really learn. Walking through its streets feels like stepping back in time. It's a beautiful, atmospheric, stunning city that matches all the expectations!

Edinburgh was very lively and had a great vibe.

Edinburgh was very lively and had a great vibe. Lots of good bars and restaurants. Excellent shopping facilities. Our hotel was in Princes Street. We could hop on a bus to the Old town where there are lively bars and lots going on. There are excellent walks and different quarters offering a different experience. Our visit was in December when there was The Christmas Market and the Big wheel etc. it’s easy to get around Edinburgh as the city centre is compact and there’s an excellent bus service.

The location was great, only a few mins drive into the city centre with buses every few mins, including one to and from the airport (only takes 10 mins). The staff were so helpful and friendly and the accommodation was stunning. Everything was so clean and comfortable. When we had a problem, they sorted it straight away and ensured we had the best stay possible. I’ve been to Edinburgh several times in the past and this was the best property I’ve stayed at, hands down! This includes a number of chain hotels.

The Glasshouse Hotel provides excellent, high quality, Edinburgh city centre location accommodation. From our arrival until departure we were made very welcome, nothing was too difficult and our every need was accommodated for. Concierge David B and Issac were a font of knowledge and provided valuable insight to inform our short break. Equally, all the receptionist staff throughout our visit.

The Scholar is a well managed hotel, great room and a very comfortable bed. In fact the bathroom was spacious and modern. The whole facility is both modern and homely - excellent facilities all round. Great location and handy bus options for accessing Edinburgh city centre. The hotel provided off street parking for my hire car, which was great, even though apparently I parked it in the wrong spot!
