FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

We enjoyed good food and drink in Edinburgh.

We enjoyed good food and drink in Edinburgh. We went at the end of November, and everywhere was so Christmassy, the gorgeous buildings laden with the most gorgeous Christmas decorations. There was a Christmas market on and Fun fair. So many beautiful buildings that just make Edinburgh special. Plenty of shops and plenty of historical places to visit. What a wonderful city. The Dome was everything and more. We visited Victoria road and terrace. Trams make getting about even easier. We did stay at No 11 Boutique hotel, which was an ideal location for shopping within walking distance. Also close to the Edinburgh Playhouse.

I stayed at the flat on Blackwood Crescent Street in Edinburgh. The location is nice, but unfortunately, the condition of the flat was deplorable. The heater was not working, and there was no thermostat available to control the temperature, which made the stay really uncomfortable, especially in cold weather. The beds in both rooms were very uncomfortable and of low quality, making it difficult to get a proper rest. The flat also lacks proper facilities, and overall, there were no basic amenities or proper arrangements that you would expect during a stay. The property needs major improvements, as it does not offer proper facilities or comfort for guests. Disappointing experience despite the good location.

Went for xmas market, not as good as in the past, scaled back a lot but still enjoyed atmosphere. Went to whisky experience, was excellent. At night went to the ice bar. Then a good restaurant, plenty of choice of places to eat and drink. Went to chezjules bistro, french. Excellent. Then next day went to Ivy for breakfast again really really good, can recommend. Easy to walk about, lots of shops and worth a visit to old town up the royal mile.

Very good hotel, big room with comfy bed and very clean and quiet given its near the airport.. Plenty of parking and a lovely breakfast. Pool area is great. Short walk to the train or tram station with frequent trains into Edinburgh. We stayed here during the fringe as it was good value compared to hotels in the city centre

The room was a great size, the bed was comfy and the room and the bathroom were clean. It was a great location to Edinburgh city centre and I was able to walk there easily. It was warm. The hotel provided off street parking for my hire car, which was great, even though apparently I parked it in the wrong spot!
