The location and setup of the Olive Pod is amazing. Katie and Charlotte are wonderful hosts. As a guest you can almost fully manage your own stay with the well prepared guidance/instructions around the Pod, but when needed the hosts are very helpful. As a guest you’re staying in nature, we saw foxes, hares and rabits running around the field which enriched our experience in a lovely way.

The friendliness of the staff and I like to say thank you to Sunita, Ruth and Joyce and also the office manager when we arrived, he helped my husband bring up the luggage and he kept the flowers for my daughter in a vase in his office until show time. I am already booking my next stay for beginnning of August. My son's room was also upgraded, that was a nice touch.

Some pretty bad traffic at peak times and no large supermarkets nearby so arrive prepared but the area itself is absolutely beautiful and there are lots of lovely little village centres nearby to explore.

East Horsley is a beautiful place.

East Horsley is a beautiful place. Its not far to go in to the town Guildford if you want to do any shopping. We went to Adam Aaronson's Glass Blowing Studio in West Horsley which is only down the road approx 2 mile and had a class there. You can make different pieces from a tumbler to a scent bottle. There is larger pieces but obviously goes up in price for the class. Really good if you want something different to do. There is also a Garden Centre next door to this. There is a lovely little pub just down the road from the Thatchers Hotel if you wanted to try a different menu. We had an evening meal in there and it was very nice. Need a car though if you want to go in to town or a taxi.

Food was good, staff very slow, we waited half an hour for breakfast and coffee, I had to remind them of our order due to wedding. Cleaning staff had to help clear the tables. In the evening staff still very slow. A quiet area in the restaurant would be a good idea if weddings are a common feature.

The area is well situated for walking on the North Downs, convenient for the opera at West Horsley Place and apparently other people use the hotel to get to Wimbledon, either for the park and ride or because the train line goes through Wimbledon.

I was visiting my parents, so not as a tourist.

I was visiting my parents, so not as a tourist. There are lovely walks nearby and the roads are popular with cyclists. The local shops (those at walking distance from the hotel) are friendly You can get a good Indian meal at Yasmin. The Italian Cafe/Deli (Annare?) is good, with some tempting treats. It's very popular and rightly so. There are buses to Guildford. It's quite a distance to the railway station, and don't expect a lot of taxis. The Duke of Wellington pub does good meals and drinks and has lots of outdoor seating.
