Absolutely outstanding property. In the centre of town, with easy access to everything. Rooms are totally gorgeous, beautiful decor, magnificent, comfortable beds, immaculate facilities. Very friendly & comprehensive “ introduction” to facilities & detailed, written information about the property, recommendations for places to eat & visit. Great WiFi. The location is perfect, the house is immaculate, there's a garden to sit in with a glass of wine, weather permitting. Fabulous shower. Fully equipped kitchen for those that like to eat in. The hosts were attentive and responded straight away with my question about parking.

This was a gorgeous hotel with very friendly and efficient staff who couldn’t have been more helpful. I was on my own but I had to leave a bit early in the morning and they arranged for me to have an earlier breakfast. The decor was really lovely and it had a cosy feel. The bedroom was very comfortable as was the bed. The food was fabulous as was the whole dining experience which felt very personalised.

The staff, the location, the attention to detail. And of course, the food. The chocolate and banana dessert was among the most exciting puds we had ever tasted. Downton is simply one of the most enjoyable and most relaxing places to stay. This was our second visit in five years and if anything it has got even better in that time.

Everything about Old Downton Lodge was exceptional. The room was spacious and very comfortable, the staff were all delightful, and the food was fantastic. We stayed for five nights and the kitchen never missed a trick, each meal was a masterpiece. We will certainly go back.
