Absolutely stunning hotel, the location right across from the beach is beautiful. The staff were fantastic, everyone we spoke to were friendly and so accommodating. The room was beautifully presented with a lovely clean bathroom. Great value for money, was very impressed with what we got for our money. Would stay again and recommend this hotel to friends and family.

A really charming place, we loved it! The owners are nice and very helpful, our room was fantastic, and we immediately felt like we were home. The hotel is just a couple of minutes on foot from the port. A path leading to the cliffs is very close, and Dover Castle is a short walk away. We will definitely come back next time we are in Dover.

Wow! This place is an absolute gem. Excellent interior design with very comfortable furnishings. Loved the many touches that made this stop "home". Good shower and veey comfortable bed. The hosts were onto it and made us feel very welcome, accommdating an earlier checkin and storing our touring bicycles safely. Breakfast provisions were good, and suggestions for local eateries proved good too. Def want to stay again!

Everything was great, from comfy beds, plenty of towels, a well-equipped kitchenette, complimentary coffee/tea to board games for kids… The owner is super responsive and you’ll receive a welcome booklet with useful info about the apartment and the surroundings. An Ancient Port of Call

Dover is famous for the white cliffs which would have been a striking sight to the Romans as they advanced on England. They decided to construct a port at this strategic spot and it has held an important role ever since. Ferries to Calais and Dunkirk cross the English Channel several times daily and some brave souls even manage to swim across.

A Roman lighthouse still stands atop a hill overlooking the port, but is easily missed as it was incorporated into Saxon St Mary de Castro Church as the bellower. It is found within the grounds of 13th-century Dover Castle, one of England’s largest castles, whose multi-level ramparts sit above tunnels where the World War II Dunkirk evacuation was planned.

Another Roman monument is the Painted House whose remains include some of the best-preserved Roman murals north of Italy. Even older is the Bronze Age boat displayed in Dover Museum.

The Dover Transport Museum showcases vintage vehicles, and the Blériot Memorial marks the spot where the first airplane to fly across the Channel first touched English soil. A path runs along the top of the nearby cliffs, while at their feet is a shingle beach.

The Dover Castle was lots of fun and was well organized for visitors of all ages. The war tunnels on the other hand were poorly organized and should be reorganized in order to help make them more interesting. The films on the walls explaining the historical events were difficult to understand due to the echo. The significance of the tunnels could be made more hands on for the younger generation to grasp. The Cliffs of Dover- easily a days experience and excellent hike and picnic opportunities along the way.

The white cliffs are absolutely breathtaking to view. Not too difficult to reach, around half hour walk from city centre. Food options around are cheap and good quality. Overall had some good time away from busy London.

We loved the romance of the place but we arrived on a very wet and cloudy day and some areas (like the walkway under the freeway) were flooded which hampered our walk from the station. The area at the back of the hotel was rather impacted by a busy freeway but the front of the hotel was charming. We only had two days in Dover and would have liked to have spent more time there. We ate at the hotel which was easy and very nice.

Reiseempfehlung: Dover castle, the beautiful white cliffs. Also recommended is a visit in the Fan bay deep shelter, and especially the Langdon stairs, a narrow way down to the beach on low tide. Tight shoes equired.

The Cliff walks are fabulous.

The Cliff walks are fabulous. Tea and cake at the lighthouse was a treat. We did not have time to visit the castle but hope to come back there sometime. Grocery shopping was very convenient and close to our accommodation. We travelled by train and the station is conveniently situated.

Perfect location, quiet and clean hotel. Easy to park. John, the Concierge, is who really makes the difference among other hotels. He was so helpful and gave us the best advices to visit Dover. There were many places to visit, some of them we missed because we were just one day in Dover, so we'll come back at some point and for sure we'll choose again St Martins Guest House.

The hotel is well situated for easy access to Dover. It was very quiet and the rooms were comfortable. We had breakfast which was delicious and served by a friendly and helpful chef who offered to cook eggs to order. They seemed to go out of their way to help people with specific dietary requirements. It was well served with a bar, snacks, coffee and a Bella Italia.

This was my second stay at the Marina Hotel & Spa and once again it made for a great first night in the UK after arriving via the Dover ferries. Whereas I had a room with an ocean view the last time around, this time my window was facing the parking lot. Either way, the noise was acceptable and the room was equipped with all items described on the website.

The Lydden Bell is close to the ferry port. We had travelled about 4 hours to reach calais and didn't want the nearly 4 hour drive home on the same day. The pub/hotel was excellent. The room was spacious, very well equipped and the meal in the restaurant was good.. Great breakfast.
