The location was magnificent. John and Jacky were best of hosts. Kind hardworking scottish farmers. Jacky an amazing cottage weaver.The bothy was A great place to get away from worldly materialism... they supplied all basics of camp stove cooking . Composting toilet and a lovely pete fire. Very cosy with a nice comfortble bed. I felt warm and safe and remote. Away from mainstream society. I had an incredible experience at the Doune Braes Hotel. The owner, Eileen, is the epitome of gracious hospitality. She and her staff offered great care in serving all their guests! The chef and dining room staff went out of their way to accommodate my special food needs. I felt like I had a personal chef and staff! The food was amazing and the staff graciously attentive. The room was perfect for spreading out and planning my ancestral journey. Eileen provided me with some resources for my journey. All in all an amazing experience. Home away from home. If you are on the Isle of Lewis - stay here! It is beautifully centrally located to be able to easily access all points in Harris and Lewis.

The home is extremely elegant and modern. There is attention to detail in all aspects, like fresh flowers, walk-in wardrobe sensor lights, kitchen gadgets. Ample space, all bedrooms have double beds. The sauna is a lovely surprise. The view of the ocean is an absolute delight. I would recommend this property and the Isle of Lewis as a place to reset in beautiful surroundings. The ferry trip from Ullappool to Stornoway was also an additional bonus to our holiday. The weather on the island is changeable, so please always have padded jackets and rain coats.

Marina was an excellent host. She was warm and kind, and a great cook. The breakfast she served was restaurant quality! The room was so well furnished and elegant, and the whole house had a lovely smell of candles. The breakfast room was also very refined. It was just such a nice stay. Thanks Marina!

We had a wonderful time. The house is the cleanest I've ever found in my entire tourism experience. Nothing is missing, absolutely nothing. You can feel the care and love the owners have for this house and, above all, their desire to make guests feel welcome. Every question was answered promptly. We arrived late and it was a lovely surprise to find the lights on and the house warm; it was exactly what we dreamed of. Another thing to note: the mattresses are very comfortable. We slept very well. It's a shame we only stayed one night; we'll definitely be back for more.
