We really loved this place! The area has such an interesting history and a unique atmosphere — it was something completely different from anything we’ve experienced before in Scotland. The room was special and very well set up. The host responded extremely quickly — faster than at any of our other stops — and everything went very smoothly. We truly enjoyed our stay!

Great lodge spotlessly clean with everything you'll need for a perfect stay. Good quality furniture and beds. Wonderful to watch the wildlife. So peaceful but within easy distance to the town. The owners were so helpful with a small issue we had and was resolved quickly.

The accommodation was immaculate and so homely! I've never been somewhere that is so well stocked. There were so many little extras provided that we weren't expecting. It was spacious and allowed us to gather as a family. Communication with the owner was excellent. Location was brilliant, tucked out of the way but within a short drive to amenities! Absolutely loved our stay.

Exceptional and friendly service from everyone at Ernespie House Hotel. The hotel is in a beautiful, scenic location just outside of town. Rooms were very comfortable. Highly recommend eating in the restaurant and make sure you leave room for dessert. Good value for money with breakfast included.

The local area may not look the best, but the area was quiet with easy access to the coast, hills and larger towns. Dalbeattie town forest on the doorstep was a lovely escape, overall a great central place to explore Dumfries and Galloway

This is a lovely area with good opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling in nearby forests and kayaking on the Solway coast. If you just want to relax nearby Kippford has pubs with outdoor seating overlooking the pictureseque harbour.

Dalbeattie is smaller than nearby Castle Douglas or Newton Stewart Its is a very pleasant town with reasonable facilities but it is a great location to base yourself and explore the whole of the Solway Coast and the old Stewartry. Eating out options are limited especially if you are looking for dog friendly

A lovely little town with plenty of places to eat and drink.

A lovely little town with plenty of places to eat and drink. Very close to the sea. Lots of lovely walks for our dog. Everyone very friendly. We ate at Luigis, Kings Arms and Rose Garden. All delicious and great value for money.

Dalbeattie has a beautiful park , wonderful for taking photos. There are lots of little shop to wander into. Nothing looked boarded up or shabby. We chose to eat in but there are plenty of other outlets to choose from.

Dalbeattie town did not really feature in our visit at all...

Dalbeattie town did not really feature in our visit at all other than the provision of sandwiches and juice for picnic lunches. We are keen on walking and exploring the countryside, forest walks, Caerlaverock nature reserve, Threave Gardens etc.

Everything was perfect, Mandy and Ange were amazing, the breakfast was the best we have ever had in a B@B or hotel. We stayed in the Van Gough room, which was beautiful. There was a good selection on the tray, there was plenty of bottles of water, and biscuits. The toiletries were provided. We brought our dog, and she was spoilt rotten by Mandy and Ange, lots of belly rubs and treats.

Perfect location for us, was a little worried when we arrived as the annex looked so small, but what a pleasant surprise, a large spacious facility done to a high standard. When the small secluded garden is completed, the property will be even more outstanding One other point, how quiet the area is, with easy access to Dalbeattie Forest at the end of the road

The room was a welcome change from the stereotypical hotel/motel. It was full of character being decorated in the 'arts and crafts' style. You can well imagine living in that time. The surroundings are peaceful and atmospheric. The staff were very welcoming and we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast in our room.

Food was very nice. Room large and clean. Hotel ideally located for visiting the nearby park and wandering around the town. We only stayed one night en route to another location but have often thought it would be a good base for touring the area.
