The Dundonald House was such a serene place to land after our flight into Edinburgh. Decor is stellar, host Laura and the breakfasts she makes are amazing, and Culross couldn't be cuter.

Yasmine and Team Coorie could not have been more welcoming, kind, and thoughtful. We were treated like VIPs from the moment we stepped from the taxi in front in the cafe the morning of our arrival. Yasmine, earlier that morning, sent us an email explaining self check-in should we arrive after 5:00PM when the cafe closes. She immediately met us outside and, although it was well before check-in time, took our heavy luggage to our room. Then she showed us to a lovely window seat in the cafe where we could relax and enjoy a most delicious lunch...the waffles with corn flake coated chicken is Fantastic! By the time we finished, our room was ready and we could enjoy the most comfortable, large room with a lovely view of the Firth of Forth...room #2. We enjoyed peaceful relaxation along the beach and many benches along Limekilns Pier just across the street. Breakfast was absolutely fabulous as well, with special attention shown to us so we could share our selections. We commented on how delicious the tea service in our room was, especially the Caramel wafer biscuits, and Sasha, who made sure our room was clean and comfortable, even gave us extra. Everyone made us feel so special. After we checked out and were back in the USA, we got a message from Yasmine telling us that we had left behind a Cpap machine. She offered to post it to us! Incredible kindness and customer service! Truly wonderful people and relaxing place to stay. Highly recommend and would love to stay again! Thank you, Yasmine and Team Coorie.

I have stayed in 18 different places during my trip to the UK and I have never once thought about writing a review whilst I am still staying in the place, that's how good this place was! This place is lovely!!. I unfortunately didn't receive the messages that were sent to me because I didn't check the app due to reception issues and I had to call to get let in to the car park (my fault). The lovely worker was really nice and came out and opened the gate for me. I was extremely exhausted from my trip as I drove really far today and I didn't let them know what time I was going to be arriving, yet he was nothing but patient and kind. Now to the room, as you can see, by the pictures, it's very clean, very new and very cosy. I am extremely impressed first of all, with the lighting options. I have experienced nothing but terrible lighting during my stay in the UK at other places. I would say out of the 18 places I've stayed, maybe 1 or 2 had good lighting. This place there is ample options of lighting including mood lighting behind the bed, which I absolutely love. Because I always sleep with a light on when I'm not in my own home. Onto the bed. The bed is extremely well made. I'm currently lying in it and it's very comfortable and very clean. I love that there are soft and hard pillows to choose from! (However unfortunately neither pillow was comfortable to me, but that's a personal preference thing!) In Relation to the heating, its perfect. The room is a toasty 21°, and you can change it on the wall or on the thermostat against the wall. There is a little kitchenette, which is perfect. It's got everything that you need, like a mini fridge and microwave, and it has cutlery and plates, etc. The bathroom is very nice and clean and I absolutely love love love the fact that there is a recess to put your items.

Culross is pretty special and unique = it's an ancient borough in Fife, dating from 1500s, and is situated on the coast - it has many old, lovely characterful properties and is a joy to walk around! It's been in various period dramas like Outlander, Captain America etc. There's a beautiful abbey built mostly 1200-1500s. Outside winter, there's a merchants palace open dating from early 1600s which is v interesting. There are several excellent tea and coffee shops, and of course, a very old inn ( also c 600 years old -think c 4th oldest in UK) serving tasty meals all day.

It’s an incredible place with loads to see.

It’s an incredible place with loads to see. However some of the streets are quite steep and cobbled so may be challenging for those with mobility issues. It is worthwhile becoming a National Trust member if you are visiting as there are quite a number of properties around within an hour’s drive and the palace etc. in Culross itself. We ate at the Red Lion Inn some eveningsand the food was very good, portions were generous very popular so would advise booking a table in advance. Nowhere else to eat at night in the village itself.A car is a must if you want to explore the surrounding arae

The village is out of the pages of a fairy tale. Such a rarity it has kept its original form in our modern age. I recommend staying within the village if you can as you can then wander in peace among its quiet lanes once the loads of tourists have departed for the day.

Culross was beautiful to drive around. If you're an Outlander fan, parts of the show were filmed in this area. There are also soem fine examples of beautiful architecture around. Take some time to explore.

Culross is a delightful and unique place which must be visited and we return to regularly, but it lacks accommodation. Even we cannot spend more than half a day there, however, so plan to stay somewhere else or call in en route to somewhere else.

Well preserved old town with lots of (industrial) heritage.

Well preserved old town with lots of (industrial) heritage. Some nice walks in and around the town. Nice pub with good food, friendly staff and 'out of the ordinary' interior decoration. Can also recommend the Pottery/Biscuit café. We had an excellent lunch there and they have a lovely little art gallery with stuff made by local artists/crafts people. The hanging gardens were looking stunning. Some lovely walks around as well. We even spotted some seals off the coast. The only downside was the walk around Preston island. One side has interesting info on the old Salt pans, but for 3/4 of the walk you are walking around the basin where Scottish Power dumped the ash of the old power plant, which is fenced off by ugly high wired fence and warning signs to keep out.
