It is a beautiful little village set in a very picturesque area, our stop was just overnight after a trip to a dog show in Builth Wells, but it was very enjoyable and we will return again next year and maybe explore some more.

A wonderful small town. full of character set amongst attractive hills. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous with a variety of lovely walks ranging from flat strolls along canal and river to substantial hills. Some of the streets in the town centre are quite steep too. The visitor centre has some excellent local guidebooks. There are a few local shops, including newsagents, as well as cafes, pubs and hotels for places to eat, but for more substantial shopping you will need to go into Brecon or Abergavenny.

It was a very pleasant small town beautifully situated in the Black Mountains and so near to other places of interest. We visited Hay on Wye, Abergavenny, Brecon and Canal basin, the Brecon Beacons. Wonderful scenery. The bus service made for a relief from driving. We stayed and ate at the Bear Hotel which we can highly recommend.

We did the hike up Pen Y Fan with a large group of friends earlier in the day and then stayed over at the Bear afterwards. Everyone in our group booked their accommodation individually, however the Bear were happy to arrange a large table for our group and we pre ordered our meals ahead of time. We will definitely be back!

Lovely little cottage in a great location just a few minutes from centre of town and a couple of minutes walk from a nice pub. Use of pub car park to park in just 2 minutes away was great as it can be tricky parking in town due to narrow streets. Cottage was well stocked and communications with the owner over a query was very prompt and helpful. Kitchen well stocked with everything we needed. Will definitely be staying here again when we return to Crickhowell.
