The room and the pub itself were amazing, and the food was incredible, I recommend the Sea Bass and the Mac and Cheese. The staff were super friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Didn't hear too much from downstairs once we went to bed for the evening too.

From the moment we walked through the door to the minute we left we had excellent service. The staff is both friendly and helpful. I have to give special mention to Diane. She made us feel like house guests, not like paying customers. She is a gem, and such a hard worker. Breakfast was quick and delicious, and covered anything we would like. Our room was lovely, and oh-so-comfy. Plenty of parking and a central location helped to make it perfect. We loved Castleton, and would return to the Bull's Head in a heartbeat. Can't wait!

Castleton around Christmas time is always a magical experience as practically every building is decorated with trees and lights to give the place a real festive feel. Also it wasn’t too busy which made it comfortable to get served in pubs and cafes. The food in the Bulls head and the Peaks hotel in particular were very good. The Christmas tree festival at St Edmond’s church is also well worth a visit.

Castleton is a beautiful little village at the foot of Mam Tor and Winnats Pass. It's close to 4 very different caverns and many stunning walks. It's a great place for anyone that likes the outdoors and particularly hill walking.

Castleton is a great location for walks.

Castleton is a great location for walks. If you don’t want to drive when you’re there you can start many trails and have a wide variety of walking experiences. Castleton is a busy destination so if you are hoping for quiet evenings you will be disappointed. Pubs are busy in the evening - the ones we went to had good friendly atmospheres but all busy! Castleton is not cheap and rooms and food prices add up. The food we had isn’t the best quality either but was fine. We ended up eating at the Cheshire Cheese and had the veggie pie. We heard a few people complain about their food there. They had good local beers. We also ate at the Nags Head. It was very basic pub fare but filled you up. If you want to rely on a local shop that’s expensive too so if you want to do it on a budget, find a larger store on your way there! The castle is very cute and worth a visit for its views too but it’s closed over winter now. Mam Tor is a busy destination but if you add it into your longer walk you can get the experience and soon be back on a quieter path and it’s a lovely view. We walked up the Cave Dale walk behind the castle to start out walk and this is a fabulous climb very very pretty to start the loop round to the Tor. We were really happy with this location for our first experience of the peaks and would likely return.

Castleton being in the centre of the Derbyshire Dales it is surrounded by beatiful sceanery and offers many walks and caving experiences. Within the town there are many pubs and restaraunts offering a very good selection of drinks and food, many are dog freindly. With being compact it was easy to get around. Very near by there are other interesting towns to eplore namely Bakewell, Crich (tram museum) Matlock and the Heights Of Abraham.

We soon realised that Castleton was probably the best place to stay in the area. An excellent centre for walking and a bonus was the Tourust information Centre with its cafes. 7 pubs so finding one for a meal was not a problem. We went to one cafe down a side street and ate at t the George further along the same street. Both good. Also the sandwiches etc at the deli in the main street can be highly recommended We aim to return to Castleton. An ideal centre for exploring the Peak Natonal Park.

The hotel is a traditional stone built pub with all modern comforts. It's in the heart of Castleton, nestled at the foot of Mam Tor with magnificent views all round and a good car park. The food is delicious with very generous portions and the rooms are comfy and well appointed. We had 2 dogs and a baby with us and the staff were really welcoming and accommodating. It was the first sunny weekend of the year and Castleton was mobbed but the pub reserved tables for all 8 of us both nights and a space in the car park (priceless!).

Great comfortable hub for exploring around Castleton. Bed was comfortable, room was a huge space and had a surprise jacuzzi bathtub. It's a traditional inn with all the lovely quirks and character that they bring. The owner was kind with recommendations of where to eat that were spot on. Great stay and would come again.

The family room unlike most hotels was genuinely spacious with ample room to open our luggage without the room getting cramped. Loved how welcoming the staff was to both the kids and the fur baby. Loved the dog grooming station, generous supply of treats. The kids enjoyed the family room and the restaurant.
