We absolutely loved how welcoming and accommodating the hosts were. The Gothic room was so beautiful, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate and spacious. The breakfast was delicious, and the dining room was as the rest of the property, beautiful. The front grounds were beautiful, and we enjoyed sitting on the bench playing with Mr Button's.

We were attending a birthday party in Calne so the location was perfect. The bungalow itself os very well presented and the helful welcome pack explained how all the amenities worked. The host kindly provided a cot and highchair that were set up and ready for us when we arrived.

I booked out this hotel for family and friends to stay in following my wedding. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful in the booking process and did everything they could to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The hotel only offered continental breakfast, but given that we had booked out the whole hotel, they agreed to do a hot breakfast on a pre-order, which was fantastic! Our family and friends also enjoyed the restaurant and bar the evening before, both areas of which are nicely designed and have a nice ambience. Some of the rooms are quite old-fashioned in terms of aesthetics, but The Lansdowne is such an old hotel, and the majority of the hotel has been recently refurbished. This also didn't impact the level of cleanliness and the quality of service, which was great. Also don't be put off by the lack of parking as there is a big car park nearby you can pay and display at, and it's very reasonable. Would recommend The Lansdowne to all looking to stay in Calne!

The staff were welcoming on arrival. They provided assistance with booking a taxi for myself and my daughter. They were engaging in conversation and interested in hearing where we were going etc. Our waiter on the first night was really helpful when I mentioned my daughter was a fussy eater. He was able to arrange a really plain burger which she loved. On the subject of food......it was outstanding and very reasonably priced for the excellent quality and presentation that arrived to the table. It was really nice to see it was dog friendly too. Two guests has their lovely dogs along and the lay happily under the tables while their owners ate a meal. The bedroom was beautifully presented. Immaculately clean. The radio playing gently in the background on arrival was a really nice touch too. Just a final word on breakfast.....we opted for room only but when we arrived we saw the breakfast menu and swiftly opted to book breakfast., a decision i will never regret. The beautiful bread and perfectly soft poached eggs were magnificent. Well done to all at the black swan. A top class place to stay.

We stayed in Sprithill, which is just outside Calne.

We stayed in Sprithill, which is just outside Calne. We did not go to Calne beyond using the supermarket. The accommodation was used as a base to visit Bath, Cherhill, Avebury, Lacock and Bourton on the Water.

The Lansdown Strand was a great place to stay.

The Lansdown Strand was a great place to stay. Friendly, cosy and relaxing, in the centre of town. The surrounding shops and structures were situated on a hill yet seemed very accessible. No parking at the hotel and all side roads were double yellow lines or resident parking. The car park was no more than a three minute walk from the hotel, no free parking as part of hotel. The centre was well lit and had seating areas by the library. I will visit again.

A small but interesting historic area if you step away from the A4 road. Good quality local museum. Worth an hour or two of your time if you like exploring country towns: just stay away from the major roads!

If you look around Calne you will find a great and healthy...

If you look around Calne you will find a great and healthy atmosphere with people willing to talk and invite you to experience a part of Wiltshire.It is small and quaint ,with no problems of a big town but enough to see on a visit for a few days.Antient history and walks a museum of the locals and there past and the chance to take in the local atmosphere of those chalk hills .

Town is nice you can walk around the Calne . Running in the morning is perfect weather for good not to much traffic. People in the Calne are cute, kindness , easy to smile. The chapel has many places worth visiting.

We had a lovely time.It was our base to stay for visiting Avebury, White horses trail, and places of our interest. We choose it as it was reasonable price, have food in pub, and we could have non alcoholic drinks. Very comfy bed. The staff is very friendly and great to chat with. We had a quiet room at the end of the complex. We would definitely be back ,if we were in the area, as it is not touristy, quiet,clean and relaxing.
