It begun by a warm greeting. Turns out I had booked the wrong date somehow. But it didn’t matter. We were invited into their home, got to meet the dog’s, were made a pot of tea and they fit us in and got the little barn ready for us. Truly above and beyond. The little barn itself is amazing! Perfect mixture of modern and cozy. We didn’t even leave. I would 100% return, perhaps when the weather is a bit better so we can explore a little.

Everything went well - I was greeted warmly and I was shown to my accommodation which was nice and cosy with many modern appliances. I was served at the bar by a chap called Peter who was very helpful with the choices of drinks. Later that evening I was joined by my Sister and Brother in law. I slept well and its the first hotel in a number of stays this year where I had biscuits with the Tea! Breakfast was again really good value and very nice, the waitress was very attentive and I cannot fault any part of my stay.

We had an exceptional and unique experience at The Auberge, a hidden gem discovered during a spontaneous overnight stay. Having travelled from London, we found this charming spot unexpectedly and were delighted by the understated elegance of the accommodation. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated and thoughtfully equipped, including high quality bedding and towels which made for a very luxe feel. You could really see how much thought had been put into the presentation of the room. The bathroom had added safety features (suction bath mat and handle within shower) which were greatly appreciated. Luckily for us, on a Monday evening, the restaurant is reserved for guests only, and the meal well exceeded our expectations! Jason, who served them, was knowledgeable, dressed impeccably (including silver tray and white gloves!) and provided details about each dish and the locally sourced ingredients. And, unsurprisingly, breakfast followed suit, sans the silver tray and white gloves but certainly a great way to start our day! If we had arrived on a different night, we undoubtedly would have missed out on a reservation at the restaurant. So, if you're planning ahead for your stay, be sure to treat yourself to a fabulously memorable meal - just remember to book the restaurant in advance. This is definitely not your typical 'pub grub'! However, it is definitely a perfect venue worthy of celebrating a special occasion and was a truly memorable experience for us. We have nothing but high praise for Jason and Katie, the couple behind The Auberge, for their entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to their staff and commitment to quality. Their shared vision for excellence and growth is evident in their thoughtful and precise approach to the business. Their remarkable achievements in building their business in such a short time are highly commendable.

We loved our stay at Whiskers and Woods! The space was quiet, cosy, and incredibly well-equipped with high quality appliances. The attention to detail was impressive, from the underfloor heating to the thoughtful breakfast box with eggs and sausages for the outdoor cooking station. I waited around 10–15 minutes to check in, even though the reception area was completely empty. I rang the phone twice to let someone know I was there, and when I was finally greeted, I mentioned that I’d been waiting. The receptionist replied, “I haven’t been that long,” which I found quite dismissive. The room was already paid for, but I was told I needed to present a debit card. When I explained I didn’t have one with me, I was then told my card details were already on the system—so I’m not sure what the issue was in the first place. The room itself was spacious, but the cleanliness was appalling. The bath clearly hadn’t been cleaned in some time, so I didn’t use the shower facilities at all. The extractor fan was covered in cobwebs and dust—far beyond what could be overlooked. I emailed the hotel on Sunday after returning home, including photos and videos as evidence, but I still haven’t received a response. Very disappointing experience overall.

We stayed here as it was close enough to where we needed to be over the weekend and far enough away with good roads. There was a good choice for breakfast and fresh. We never dined in the evening but the menu looked acceptable .

From the moment I checked the staff were exceptional. Friendly, welcoming and helpful. My room was perfect for my needs and was serviced by wonderful staff. Breakfast offered everything I could possibly need. The onsite restaurant is amazing, great range and well cooked. Thank you for another great stay.

Room 107 was a disgrace.

Room 107 was a disgrace. There is something seriously wrong with the plumbing. It may be previous guests leaving nappies down the loo but when we came to use it the flushing system did not work. The toilet filled with water and the contents were not removed. Someone tried to resolve the issue with a plunger but it was resolved. We had to use the public toilets near reception and were grateful for these. We had a beast in our room - beetle? Maybe but cockroach 🪳 more likely. Pictures are with the staff at Brome Grange. Breakfast was chaos. Too little space for the number of people and items like fried eggs and croissants missing.

Stayed one night, which was enough. I suspect the restaurant menu does change very often each year. Old hotel caught in a past era - some upgrading but all unimaginative and dated. Rural location also meant staffing dificulties and closed facilities/lack of service. Completely lacking in atmosphere, sense of arrival or rural location. View from room of the rural location non-existant - pity; many opportunities lost.
