FAQs about hotels in Bristol

From Brunel to Banksy!

Britain’s 4th most popular visitor destination, Bristol boasts Brunel’s magnificent Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the River Avon. More Brunel handiwork is in the harbour where his SS Great Britain steamship is moored. Pirate walks here detail the city’s underground naval history.

Further north in Clifton is the world’s oldest zoo outside a capital city. Other Bristol attractions include At-Bristol Museum and the Grade I-listed Corn Exchange with its 4 "nails" outside where money changed hands. Also worth a visit is St Nicholas Market, in a Georgian square home to several bars and a Slow Food Market on the 1st Sunday of every month. Other Bristol shopping options include shopping centres at Cabot Circus, and Cribbs Causeway on the outskirts.

As a student city, Bristol really comes to life after dark. The live music scene here is fantastic and has given way to several internationally known bands, but for something more alternative head to Eastside.

Another option for alternative-seekers is the work of hometown street artists Banksy. Just like Booking.com’s Bristol accommodation, his work is spread throughout this fabulous city.

This Gateway to the West Country is served by Bristol Airport and Temple Meads train station. The old Bristol to Bath railway line is now a cycle route and makes a great day trip.

We spent most of our time in and around Clifton with a day trip out to Bath and an Air Raid Shelter tour one afternoon in the city centre. We also loved the harbour area and the accessibility to be able to walk all around it, discovering some "hidden gems" including some Banksy wall art and the SS Great Britain. Being cat lovers, we paid a visit to the Bag of Nail pub to see the resident "bar" kitties asleep atop the counters. A Hard Hat tour of the Clifton Suspension bridge was a highlight as was the bridge itself and a walk through the surrounding park land of Clifton Down.

Lots of lovely architecture.

Lots of lovely architecture. Great views of the bridge from the observatory. Contrasting areas. Loved Easton with its funky Gloucester Road etc. Great places to eat and have coffee. Try the Gardens of Easton and The Journey (Tibetan) and the Bristolian (for brunch).

Bristol is a lovely place to visit but the shopping areas are looking run down now , major department stores now closed replaced with pop up shops. We did pop over to cribs causeway to complete our shopping needs.

One of the most relaxed cities in England and one of my favourites. The centre near the historical harbour has bars, arts centres and boats. Across the river, there's a museum, boats, and a steam train. If you are visiting from outside the UK, after London and Edinburgh, Bristol should be a serious choice.

We love Bristol but were a little disappointed to see a couple of our favourite shops had gone. The weather was not on our side but it didn’t stop us from walking to Clifton. It was lovely to see the place again and we will visit again.

Bristol is a city with a lot of buzz!

Bristol is a city with a lot of buzz! It has its rougher edges but that's part of the charm. I loved the amount of street art, the really cool musea, and the overall vibe and amount of cool independent shops.

Excellent hotel with friendly and efficient staff. The breakfast service was superb and the breakfast arrived promptly and was perfectly cooked and well presented. My room was spotless and the bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities excellent.I also enjoyed the beer garden where you could order your drinks and they would be brought to the table. As Ì travelled by train I was pleased that their was a bus stop right outside the hotel which connected with Bristol Temple Meads Station and the City Centre.

Great location - close to both Temple Meads railway station and city centre. Airport bus stop very near hotel. Staff were pleasant and friendly, especially those serving in the restaurant at breakfast time. Breakfast itself was really good and made for a great start to the day. If we're back in Bristol we'll definitely be staying here again.

Location - walking distance to Bristol city centre and Clifton, or frequent buses nearby. Great staff, helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast. Racks, the hotel's bar and restaurant (a few minutes walk up the road) did a very good Sunday lunch. Shower, while not a power one, was better than expected.
