Gorgeous period building, renovated to a modern (but still kept original character) high standard. Rooms were cosy, with extremely comfortable beds and great extra touches such as the tea tray with high quality products which was topped up each day. The cooked breakfast was fantastic and staff were super lovely and welcoming. Couldn’t ask for a better location with a handy carpark adjacent. We will definitely return.

The breakfast was divine. We liked not having to worry about parking a car as we trained from London. Public transport buses and country walk from Stowe was the perfect transport.

Bourton on the Water is a beautiful town, but it is very touristy and you should be prepared for that. We found it too busy and ended up walking to adjoining villiages which were quieter and more to our preference.

A very attractive town in the Cotswolds, and like many such places, it suffers from its own popularity. I can imagine it's always full of people, so perhaps not the best choice if you are seeking something less populated by tourists. That said, it is worth visiting, as it really is one of England's prettiest villages. Everything seems within walking distance of the village centre.

We have not been to Bourton on the water for a few years. So it was nice to go back for a short trip nothing has really changed there perhaps some of the shops have changed. But basically everything is there that you could need.

Very picturesque, with plenty to see and do.

Very picturesque, with plenty to see and do. Would recommend Smiths Burgers and the Dragonfly Maze. Easy to walk round and near to other places, such as Stow-on-the-Wold if you wanted to go further afield. Would have liked to have seen the Model Village but you couldn't take dogs in. Got a bit too busy for us in the afternoons but we still had a good time.

Very busy, but well worth the effort.

Very busy, but well worth the effort. So much to see and do not only in Bourton but also the surrounding countryside. There are ample venues for food and drink, shopping is on another level. Model village, car museum, bird park are must dos. Upper and Lower Slaughter are just unmissable places to visit (get there before 10:30 am as parking is scarce. The Old new inn, does a great Sunday roast and Mrs Rolts and the Croft for breakfast and lunch.

Bourton is a beautiful place, although suffers as a result as it's very busy. There are some good food and drink options, although the majority of shops seem to offer the same tourist-trap tat. Come in the off-season.

Myself and my partner decided to stay in The Cotswolds en route back to Altrincham, after a stay in Devon. We are not at all familiar with this area, but we were recommended Bourton on the Water by a member of the family, so booked The Chester House Hotel after a short time researching hotels. We are so glad we stayed at this hotel! A really perfect location, friendly and helpful staff and just an amazing place, in the very heart of a lovely village. I am sure we will be back when the opportunity arises.

Jules and Tony are excellent hosts, very friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The location is just right, away from the main town itself but only a 10 min walk into the centre and main attractions like the model village and motor museum. One of the other advantages of a b&b over a hotel is having a breakfast freshly cooked to order. Would certainly recommend to anyone for a trip to the Cotswolds.
