Everything! Absolutely stunning hotel with a cracking bar downstairs. So friendly! The owners were ace! Lovely locals that we chatted to. We came to be near Pendle but fallen in love with Clitheroe! Counting the days until we can book in again and we want to stay longer than 1 night next time.

The Cottage is in Holden by Bowland which is a small rural...

The Cottage is in Holden by Bowland which is a small rural village 2 miles from Bowland. There is a famous garden centre in "Holden Clough" which is 100 mtrs from the cottage and well worth a visit. Bolton by Bowland has the renounded Pub - "The Coach and Horses" has a quite spectaclular food menu including tasting menus. For the more down to earth there is "The Spread Eagle" Fish and chips on a wednesday night was only £9.99 each (05/06/2024) and was excellant. Clitheroe is close by and well worth a visit their is an excellant train station there with parking so it is very easy to go further a field on day trips.

Loved the welcome, the food , the cosy, comfortable rooms...

Loved the welcome, the food , the cosy, comfortable rooms and the views; a breath of fresh air at Middle Flass Lodge. We marvelled at the incredible transformation from farmhouse/dwellings to the present day guest house. We enjoyed the experience of being tucked away in a forest setting. In the delightful nearby village of Bolton by Bowland we visited the beautiful little church, followed by an unexpected cream tea in the old post office/store, where Tim , the proprietor entertained us with local history & personalities. It is obviously good walking/trekking & horse riding countryside 'tho weather & aging limbs curtailed, for us, such activites a little.....there are some good pubs from which to choose . As there seems to be little in the way of public transport, it's good to have one's own form of transport. Needless to say, we enjoyed a delightful couple of days staying at Middle Flass Lodge, thanks in part to Joan & Nigel.
