New owners (very new owners in fact) are doing an excellent job of breathing new life into this wonderfully located hotel. The staff are very welcoming and want to do as much as possible to make your stay as pleasant as they can. The location, four or five miles south of Berwick is easy to access and wonderful for getting to the extremely beautiful Northumbria and Scottish border locations. Stay here rather than on the nearby Holy Island and you will save a fortune. Room 2 is a twin room, both clean & comfortable, with a hanging space rather than a wardrobe and a small but perfectly adequate en-suite bathroom. The cooked breakfast (included in the price) was individually prepared not a buffet. The food was delicious. As the new owners settle in it promises to be a great place to stay & eat. Very quiet - Noise levels from the main road and downstairs bar area were virtually non-existent.

We were the only ones in the hotel on this dreary January day. But Kat and Heather went out of their way to make us comfortable. It was a lovely place and the beds - even the extra beds- in our room were amazing. We all had a wonderful sleep and a great breakfast the next morning. Thanks again Kat and Heather!

From the moment you walk through the door, you can see that the owners Graham and Allison have invested their heart and soul into this Guest house it is exceptionally clean and very tastefully decorated. Our room was very large with a lovely ensuite, which had a large shower and he bed was really comfortable. There was everything that you could want for your stay, including fresh milk in the fridge rather than EHT milk. The cooked breakfast was superb, one of the best I have had and the choices were great. This set us up for the day. Graham and Allison were the perfect hosts very friendly and made sure that everything was just right. We can't recommend this place enough and we will definitely be making a return visit.

We have visited Berwick many times as it is only 40 minutes...

We have visited Berwick many times as it is only 40 minutes by train from our home. There are lots of interesting shops - antique and good book shops as well as good coffee shops and restaurants. Lovely walk around the walls of the town. It is quite hilly in some parts. Quayside is pleasant on a warm day. Amran’s Indian Restaurant (excellent food and service)

A lovely historic town with beautiful old buildings.

A lovely historic town with beautiful old buildings. The proximity to the sea was excellent and lots of cultural activities available. There are lots of excellent bars and restaurants and great access to North Northumberland and Scottish Borders coast.

Not much to dislike. Beautiful walks everywhere.

Not much to dislike. Beautiful walks everywhere. Steeped in army history. Lovely views from The Rampards and the river walk so peaceful despite the early morning rain! Good choice of eateries both during the day and at night. Even in November the place was busy so best to try and book a table in advance. I went to Limoncello in the evening. The food was superb but the staff let it down for me personally as a solo traveller, I felt very rushed.

free parking via a timedisc is a rare thing now.. encouraging people to visit and support the locals. Clean and tidy streets, no litter lying about. people were friendly. Lot of history here, nice walks on the old city walls.

Great walks and massive choice of great places to eat.

Great walks and massive choice of great places to eat. A walk round the ramparts and Lowry trail were great. Repas 7 great for food and live music on a Saturday evening and the sharing platters at Atelier are a great lunch option. Best to book at both.

Disabled parking easy to find,plenty of good eating places, boat trips,old walls to walk round,independent shops,theatre,cinema, barrel pub with film club in cellarwhich was very friendly,my friend was helped down steps to cellar,many people helped her with her walker on steps,local people were extremely friendly and welcoming.

what an amazing apartment .really up to hotel standards. there was plenty of room for myself my wife and our 2 grown up children . the fitting were top notch 3 bathrooms .it really was a lovely roomy apartment right in the middle of town ,an ideal location .berwick is a lovely quirky town an ideal location to explore the northumberland coast .A special thank you for the lovely welcome pack there was bread butter milk jam tea and coffee even some yummy chocolate biscuits .so if you visiting berwick make sure you book this property

Good budget hotel in a great location, close to some great cafes and restaurants on Bridge Street and a short walk to the Berwick walls walking route. The room was small but very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hotel is not staffed except in the mornings for breakfast, but access to the rooms is easy and well explained. The staff we met were incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast was hearty and delicious.

Great location, close to shops, waterfront and historical sites. Solidly built, cosy, warm ( underfloor heating ), v.clean, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bed,nice en suite, tv coffee maker etc. Attentive and helpful hosts. A word of warning if coming by train Berwick is on a hill it’s a nice walk to the property a little more energetic on the walk back, the river walk might be slightly easier on the return.

Lovely property with everything you would need. Definitely a home away from home feel about the whole place (+ dog friendly). Good quiet location close to the beach and Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Our host Sarah was amazing, she spent the time showing us around the place when we arrived and made us feel at home straight away. Would definitely recommend.

Robin was very friendly and gave us detailed advice about where we might eat and drink in Berwick-u-Tweed. He also provided a parking disc so that we could park on the road outside. We chose this place purely for location as we wished to stay in the historic part of town.
