FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Beautiful place...

Beautiful place... We would have to say the walking tour was well worth while it gave us a wonderful over view of the city. If possible we would recommend doing the walking tour the day you arrive. For dinner we would thoroughly recommend the coconut tree and the Pig and Fiddle was great little go too also.

Bath is really beautiful with lots of great shops,...

Bath is really beautiful with lots of great shops, interesting independent shops, cafes, restaurants and tourist attractions- but there are far too many buskers in every pretty square and street corner! The problem is we didn’t come across one who could sing or play their instrument well - and they all had amplifiers and we’re very loud! It made it impossible to sit outside and enjoy the city. I can’t understand the city council that they allow this. I suspect the doesn’t allow begging (I didn’t see any) so they’ve all become buskers but not very good ones!

Even in the rain it's a beautiful city with magnificent buildings and an amazing history ... Saxon, Roman, Medieval, Renaissance & Georgian. Sadly our stay was only too short to do it justice. We'll be back!

It was pricier than what we'd normally pay for a hotel, but having seen the reviews and photos online, we decided to book anyway. I can honestly say it was the best hotel we've every stayed at. The central location was perfect - close to Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, the Pump Room, Pulteney Bridge and the shops. The building itself is really quaint and situated next door to the famous Sally Lunn Tea Rooms. Our room was beautifully decorated and had ample space. The staff were very welcoming and breakfast was really good also.

Luxurious decor, clean and spacious bedroom and bathroom. The huge bed had the most comfortable mattress. Richard was a most entertaining and welcoming host for whom nothing was too much trouble. The Continental breakfast had every choice covered. The property is located a short bus ride from the city centre and is well-served by a reliable and cheap bus service. A fabulous visit.

A wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting. We had a gorgeous twin room that felt really special and grand. The spa is lovely, especially the outside jacuzzi. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. A very pleasant walk fifteen minutes down the hill to Bath city centre. A real treat for my sister and I. Thank you very much

It was within walking distance of the centre but with uber taxis it was cheap anyway. The quality of the hotel far exceeded expectations and the staff were efficient and attentive. Couldn’t have asked for better. When I next visit Bath I will 100% be going back to Bathen House Boutique Hotel.
