Extremely polite & friendly staff that made me feel very comfortable from the moment I stepped in. FAQs about hotels in Bath

Roman Remains and Georgian Grandeur

Wonderful, World Heritage-listed Bath is an impressive mix of Georgian architecture and Roman legacy. Its most famous landmark is the fantastic, natural hot spring Roman Baths. Although everything above the pillar bases is from a later period, you still get an idea of its appearance in Roman times. Sadly you can’t bathe here, but across the street the rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa offers views of Bath Abbey and the surrounding hills.

Check out the stained-glass windows in the abbey, England’s last remaining Gothic church. Its square houses Pump Rooms dispensing hot spring water from the Roman baths.

Just behind, the Parade Gardens by the River Avon overlook Bath Rugby Club, the multi-levelled Pulteney Weir and Grade I-listed Pulteney Bridge, lined with shops. Other Bath shopping options are the Southgate Shopping Centre, the bohemian Walcot Street market, and high street stores on Milsom and George streets.

North is The Circus, a circular square lined with Georgian townhouses, only marginally less impressive than the Royal Crescent down the road. You can now visit number 1 Royal Crescent, restored to its 18th-century glory.

Before heading to Bristol Airport from your Bath accommodation, take time to try the famous Sally Lunn Bun and stop at the pleasant pubs along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

It was a very cold time of year to come to Bath.

It was a very cold time of year to come to Bath. My mum is almost 80 and couldn't get warm anymore for days. But in a better temperature the sightseeing bus was nice. It would be a good start to see where in the city you'd like to go next. Beware of restaurants, make sure you know what they charge or you'll end up paying lots of money. But OPA's, a Greek restaurant in a cellar not far from the river is an excellent choice; even some starters will fill you up.

We all enjoyed the Abbey with such interesting monuments

We all enjoyed the Abbey with such interesting monuments We really lucked out with being able to use the Cross Baths - as it was a Tuesday - as our 14 year olds could not swim in the Thermie main pool. The sun shone and we had the Cross Baths to ourselves which was great. We also enjoyed the Frankenstein Experience and Escape Rooms.

Every time I return to Bath I wonder whether I have built it up on my mind and will find it less enchanting than I remember ... but every time it is every bit as beautiful as I imagined it to be. So much to see and do in a compact area in stunning surroundings.

I was only there 24 hours, but have visited Bath before, just 1 hour plus on train. It is a beautiful city, and I have vowed to return for maybe a few days to explore properly, but at an Air BnB or something more reasonable that included breakfast in the price. I would avoid Bath high season. There is a wealth of interesting eateries, the two I have used on recent occasions I would not rate well, but the building were super. I love architecture. There seemed to be much to do - shows, concert etc. but then it was Christmas.

Goes without saying Bath is a lovely setting and the Xmas...

Goes without saying Bath is a lovely setting and the Xmas markets make that even more special. Roof top Spa 9/10 The ivy Bath 8/10 OPA RESTAURANT 0/10 Spent a few hundred on food and drink and was kicking us out off the table when still eating at 1h40min and said we could finish it at the bar after we paid, did that and they told us to move again after 5 mins, moved us again after 3 mins and told us to move to hall by the toilets to finish the bottle of wine that we was still drinking. Doorman/waiter behaved like a gangster. Local taxi/uber 8/10 Some was like local tour guides The boater pub 9/10 Fran o Brian's pub 8/10 The Guinness is 10/10 in there, the toilets 2/10 MAGARI Bath restaurant(Italian) 10/10 one of there two restaurants simple menu with fresh pasta, amazing three courses and lovely location too (Prices very good too) The boating station 10/10 Lovely quiet place in the winter to wait a few nights in. 20 min walk to town, 5 min car/taxi about £9 one way in to centre EV charging of cars is shockingly bad and there car parking options for them too. We drove a long distance and was there for a few nights and needed to charge for the return journey. No road side options, 4 hour max parking in close car park, only one charger option working and taken in second larger car park. Park and ride car park near boathouse was a good option so got up early and crossed town to park there at 8am so we could get a space, to find that they don't have a bus till 9:30am on the Sunday!!! So had to walk a mile to a bus stop and wait 30 minutes there!!! Came for a chilled weekend but was spent mostly looking for ev charging. Bath council need to pull there finger out on this one and clearly more help needed for the homeless locals( talked to one person there some sadly seem beyond the stage hope)

One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Staff were lovely and most helpful. We were served by Clio and she was brilliant. The hotel is clean and modern, a very pleasant place to be. The location is perfect, right in the centre of Bath with everything you need within a few minutes walk. Facilities are fantastic. Lovely Swimming pool with Sauna and Steam room to use free of charge. We were worried about there being no car park but there is a very large public carpark 3/4 minutes walk away with ample spaces (Charlotte Street).

We had an amazing weekend in Bath and The Dukes hotel was excellent . Our room was beautiful and spacious and very clean. The hotel was in a prefect location, only a 5 minute walk into the centre of Bath, but far enough away for a peaceful nights sleep. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be returning to this hotel again in the future.
