The bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever stayed in and the bathroom was high standard. We were very pleasantly surprised as we typically would prefer a hotel but staying here has changed my mind.

The lounge was super comfortable and large with a fabulous garden. Walkable distance to Bakewell town. Bedrooms were also large and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful - fresh produce. Fabulous fruit selection. Host very helpful and friendly - couldn't do enough for us. Advised on places to eat and visit. Really enjoyed our stay and will hope to return.

The location was chosen due to our planned visit to Chatsworth and Bakewell. The location was more quiet than expected considering it was main school holiday season. A bonus for us but maybe not business.

The property is actually in the beautiful village of Baslow, which I enjoyed greatly with its old properties, walks and amenities. These included a good bus service which enabled me to get to places like Bakewell - the busy hub of life in rural Derbyshire and about 4 miles away. Nonetheless a very attractive place to explore with old property and the River Wye flowing through.
My answers to Section 4 below relate to Bakewell although my holiday cottage was in Baslow.

Bakewell and the Peak District has been our family’s Happy Place for 15 years! Just love the whole area. Busy village, with plenty of shops and places to eat, a lot selling local produce. A busy market every Monday. As an active family enjoying the outdoors, it is an excellent base to explore the surroundings. Lots of opportunities to walk, hike and cycle. Plenty of historic properties in the area, including the wonderful Chatsworth hall and gardens. Great places to eat, with one of the best Indian restaurants. An amazing part of the country!

There’s a little area for souvenir shopping and buying the famous pies and puddings and several outdoor clothing shops. There’s a co-op and a spar. A few pubs and 2 fish n chip shops. Not much to do in the evening.
Good base for buses to Chatsworth, Matlock, Derby, Sheffield.
Walking distance or short drive to start of the Monsal
Trail. Bike hire at Hassops station.

A pretty town with plenty of restaurants and eating options available. Plenty of walking opportunities within a few miles from Bakewell, as well as other scenic towns / villages, like Matlock, Buxton and Matlock Bath. Also not too far from the majestic Chatsworth house and estate.
Visited with some friends over the bank holiday weekend. On arrival we made a quick call to the number given, Richard was very helpful and there in minutes to hand over the keys etc. despite the fact we arrived a little earlier than planned. The location far exceeded our expectations, quiet and just a very short walk to the centre of Bakewell. Shared garden space by the river was particularly pleasant. Property was lovely too. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay.
Superb hotel in the centre of Bakewell. Ok no parking at the hotel but less than 200m from a public car park. Room was large and immaculately clean. All furniture and fittings were of high quality and everything you could want (hairdryer iron etc) was in the room, and all working!
Free High speed WiFi was available and the staff were more than happy to help, give out maps and printed directions for example. Comfortable bar and cafe attached.
Cannot fault
This inn is in an old farm nestled in the beautiful countryside of Derbyshire and close to the adorable town of Bakewell. It is exactly as it presents itself: there are no amenities on the property, but the hassop station is wonderful and within walking distance. We enjoyed pleasant evenings in the gorgeous garden, and overall was a cozy place to hang our hats after long days of hiking and exploring the local trails!
Beautiful and clean. I had the room with the living room bedroom and ensuite shower room. Very comfortable bed. Large double chrome shower.
Living room has a sofa bed. Location great for walks and bike rides. Not far from town centre in the car. Monsail trail leads you to Bakewell too on foot or bicycle. We chose breakfast included and I'm so glad as it was lovely. Friendly staff too.
Spacious and clean in a great location next to river and above nice restaurant "The Woodyard" Also within 5 minutes of the town centre which offers many other dining and drinking options.
Own parking place, which is very good as Bakewell gets very busy at weekends.
Also, a lovely bottle of Procecco on arrival, which was a lovely touch.
Must have known it was a special
occasion.
One of our favorite places we’ve stayed at!
Not a grand or particularly luxurious hotel but full of character made even better by the wonderful staff. They went out of their way to make everyones stay a really good one. Food was very good too
The hotel is in an ideal position for the Monsal trail with lots of other walks right on your doorstep. The views are spectacular!
It was an awesome stay at this historic cottage in Bakewell, fitted with all the modern amenities, right in the town centre, which offered awesome food choices. Halal food is only a 20-minute drive to Bakewell. The owners, particularly Carolyn, are not only hospitable but also kind and forthcoming. 10/10
The staff were incredibly helpful and kind when we were struggling to figure out transportation details during the train strike--they went above and beyond to help us! The rooms are spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. It is right in the middle of Bakewell, which was really convenient.
room was comfortable, warm, clean. bed was very comfortable. bathroom shower was hot and powerful water flow. lovely view over Bakewell from window. location was great - 5 minutes walk to Bakewell town centre. kitchen area had the basics - fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave.
We had a spacious room overlooking the terrace garden. The view was wonderful, looking over Bakewell and the surrounding hills.
The small kitchenette was fine for preparing a simple breakfast.
The hotel is a five minute walk from the town centre.
A beautiful cottage so close to the centre of Bakewell, but in a really quiet location. The cottage had character and everything we needed to make us feel at home from the minute we arrived. We would definitely love to stay again.
Thank you.
This is a beautifully refurbished hotel right in the centre of lovely Bakewell. The staff team is exemplary, very friendly, as is true of this area generally. Will happily return!
Stunning evening meal and the best hotel breakfast I've had in ages. Beautiful location in a secluded and quiet village outside Buxton and helpful and friendly staff and owners.
it was near enough in the middle of Bakewell making it easy to get down to the town centre and have a walk around. plenty of things to do around that weren’t too far by car
We stayed at 4 different hotels in England during our vacation and this was by far our favorite. It was perfect! Thank you, James, for your excellent hospitality.
