There couldn´t be a better place for a first night in England! Absolutely great and dedicated staff, yummy food and fantastic surroundings for a nice walk. Our dog has also enjoyed the invironment.

A peaceful little English village that is perfect for a relaxing getaway. The breakfast was a true English breakfast — incredibly delicious and served in a very generous portion. Sorry again that I couldn’t finish it all afterward! 😊 Not far from the accommodation, following the host’s recommendation, we walked over to the local pub, where we enjoyed some great beers in the evening, and then returned the next day for a truly delicious lunch. The accommodation itself is beautiful and a true gem for anyone who would like to immerse themselves a little in the past. As archaeologists, this place was absolutely perfect for us. Since we are planning to return to the area next year as well, we will definitely spend another one or two nights here again. We are very happy that we chose to stay here and that we were able to relax a little in this wonderful place.

Ampthill is a wonderful little town with a fascinating...

Ampthill is a wonderful little town with a fascinating history. It has connections with Henry VIII who used to hunt in Ampthill Great Park. This park has spectacular views in all directions and was landscaped by Lancelot (Capability) Brown. It is where poor Catherine of Aragon was placed under house arrest while her marriage was being annulled in nearby Dunstable. It is also where Kit Williams set his Masquerade book and buried The Golden Hare. Ampthill Park is used for many community events and celebrations. There are many fascinating little shops and cafes and a lively market in the town itself.
