FAQs about hotels in Aberdeen

Charm, Granite, Energy and Blooms

With a gently rolling landscape, Aberdeen moves elegantly between sandy beaches, picturesque stone houses, and blooming gardens. As Scotland’s 3rd-largest city, it is home to important universities, a busy harbour, and is a hub for the oil industry in the North Sea.

Walk along the Union Street ‘Granite Mile’, and visit some of the historic places like the Town House, Castlegate, or ‘Provost Skene’s House’. Don’t miss the Art Gallery and the Maritime Museum, and do some shopping in the city’s trendy shops. Choosing hotels in Aberdeen’s city centre allows you to explore this compact city on foot.

The charming Old Town is filled with bookstores, old buildings like the King’s College, and student cafés. The city won the ‘Britain in Bloom’ prize a stunning 10 times for its well-kept gardens.

The local airport offers direct train links with the central railway and coach station. Staying in a B&B, a cottage, or a hotel near Aberdeen Airport is a way to avoid the last-minute rush, while enjoying the surrounding green hills.

We absolutely loved staying at this hotel.

We absolutely loved staying at this hotel. It was so handy for the p and j live. No waiting on taxi’s in the cold. A short walk back to the hotel. The swimming pool was wonderful and breakfast was great. We had happy hour in the executive lounge which was a lovely surprise.

I appreciate that much needed redevelopment is ongoing for Union Street but, it desperately requires rejuvenated. Union Square is an excellent facility but Union Street is the heart of the city and for tourists especially, will be one of their lasting memories, when telling friends and family of their visit.

We didn't really come in order to explore Aberdeen, but would like to return and spend more time exploring. We called in briefly at the Marine museum and would have liked to look around the port. The local people were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of places to eat near the hotel- e.g. Italian, Japanese sushi, kebabs, fish and chips, Wetherspoons.

The art gallery is fantastic, lots of great exhibitions shown there.Great interactive learning stations for children+good cafe near entrance + a small coffee + cake one on 2nd floor where you can sit outside with view down the city.Footdee is a lovely old fishertown area near the huge beach+harbour. The famous Codonas beach park is expanding.Lots of great bars and places to eat.Good shopping centres but the only let down for me is Union street, the large wide main street which has lots of closed shops and looks run down.

It is nowhere as much fun as 20 years ago.

It is nowhere as much fun as 20 years ago. The city centre is dreadful really, Union Street had great shops, now a bit of a backwater town. There are tedious shopping centers with parking, but nothing special. The new gardens are worse than the beautiful old gardens which is criminal. Duthie Park is a good perambulation on a sunny morning, the art gallery and maritime museum are great. Night-time in the city centre is for the young, the drunk and low level criminality, best avoided for any culture or quality. There are a few music venues and a pleasant theatre with contemporary shows. The P&J TECA center is miles away from the city centre and not much fun in general to get to and from. Hotels can be ludicrously expensive for low quality accommodation on show days, weekends and oil industry events.

It does exactly what it says on the tin. Its right opposite the train/bus station, and a short stroll to Union Street. Its not thee most luxurious hotel in the world, but its always really clean with really spacious rooms, great bathrooms, comfy beds, friendly staff and reasonably priced rooms. I have used this place often, as its an easy walk to the Northlink ferry terminal through the Union Square shopping centre via every Shetland residents must go to.. the M&S food hall. The Station Hotel is as dependable as Aberdeen is grey.
