Absolutely perfect. Room was large, well equipped and clean. Enough parking spaces. Location also great, just a short 10-15 minutes walk to Union Street. Staff polite and everytime helpful. Fresh prepared and good tasting breakfast. If you like you can also enjoy diner and lunch there. Tried diner once while there, also good. And as I wrote at the beginning... All together... Perfect! Would like to come back.

FAQs about hotels in Aberdeen

Charm, Granite, Energy and Blooms

With a gently rolling landscape, Aberdeen moves elegantly between sandy beaches, picturesque stone houses, and blooming gardens. As Scotland’s 3rd-largest city, it is home to important universities, a busy harbour, and is a hub for the oil industry in the North Sea.

Walk along the Union Street ‘Granite Mile’, and visit some of the historic places like the Town House, Castlegate, or ‘Provost Skene’s House’. Don’t miss the Art Gallery and the Maritime Museum, and do some shopping in the city’s trendy shops. Choosing hotels in Aberdeen’s city centre allows you to explore this compact city on foot.

The charming Old Town is filled with bookstores, old buildings like the King’s College, and student cafés. The city won the ‘Britain in Bloom’ prize a stunning 10 times for its well-kept gardens.

The local airport offers direct train links with the central railway and coach station. Staying in a B&B, a cottage, or a hotel near Aberdeen Airport is a way to avoid the last-minute rush, while enjoying the surrounding green hills.

I appreciate that much needed redevelopment is ongoing for Union Street but, it desperately requires rejuvenated. Union Square is an excellent facility but Union Street is the heart of the city and for tourists especially, will be one of their lasting memories, when telling friends and family of their visit.

We didn't really come in order to explore Aberdeen, but would like to return and spend more time exploring. We called in briefly at the Marine museum and would have liked to look around the port. The local people were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of places to eat near the hotel- e.g. Italian, Japanese sushi, kebabs, fish and chips, Wetherspoons.

The art gallery is fantastic, lots of great exhibitions shown there.Great interactive learning stations for children+good cafe near entrance + a small coffee + cake one on 2nd floor where you can sit outside with view down the city.Footdee is a lovely old fishertown area near the huge beach+harbour. The famous Codonas beach park is expanding.Lots of great bars and places to eat.Good shopping centres but the only let down for me is Union street, the large wide main street which has lots of closed shops and looks run down.

It is nowhere as much fun as 20 years ago.

It is nowhere as much fun as 20 years ago. The city centre is dreadful really, Union Street had great shops, now a bit of a backwater town. There are tedious shopping centers with parking, but nothing special. The new gardens are worse than the beautiful old gardens which is criminal. Duthie Park is a good perambulation on a sunny morning, the art gallery and maritime museum are great. Night-time in the city centre is for the young, the drunk and low level criminality, best avoided for any culture or quality. There are a few music venues and a pleasant theatre with contemporary shows. The P&J TECA center is miles away from the city centre and not much fun in general to get to and from. Hotels can be ludicrously expensive for low quality accommodation on show days, weekends and oil industry events.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Coffee House Hotel in Aberdeen. The location is ideal, right in the city centre, which made getting around very convenient. The hotel is self-check-in, and the process was smooth and hassle-free – perfect if you like independence and privacy. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, with everything needed for a relaxing stay. It’s also excellent value for money compared with many other options in the city. A great choice if you’re looking for a central, stylish, and easy place to stay in Aberdeen.

Beautiful clean hotel with great selection of food both for breakfast and in the restaurant, bar looked very inviting but not enough time to use it. very helpful team from reception to housekeeping. Wanted to sample the spa facilities but unfortunately ran out of time on our stay. Excellent transport links, outside Aberdeen Rail station the airport bus from Union square stops right by the hotel with a frequent service

The Atholl Hotel set a bar in Scottish Hospitality as regards value for money in relation to comfort, food and friendliness and efficiency of staff, that few hotels in Scotland can match (save perhaps 5 star hotels). Having staying in 1/2 dozen hotels throughout Scotland this year (2024) the cost per night has been £30-80 more and the standard of food and overall comfort either equal usually much less.

Loved the hotel pool and gym. Had dinner in the restaurant- food was outstanding and excellent service too.
