The hosts were delightful and so kind. We were weary travellers and they let us arrive earlier than we had planned. The garden is exquisite - Chelsea flower show would use the design. It is a calm beautiful place. There is a pergola across the garden which gives shade - and a small pool which is part of the garden design. The rooms were charming and thoughtfully styled. There is no air conditioning - but the rooms were cool in the night. It was very quiet - and there were no mosquitos!. There is no television but the wifi worked well. Breakfast was lovely -selection of breads/jam/fruit/ham/cheese/ juice etc. Parking directly opposite the B and B. 15 minutes to Carcassone. Local wineries which we did not have time to visit - but will next time.

Let's begin with the beautiful chateau, delightfully renovated by owners Kathy and Eric set in the quiet village of Palaja approximately five kilometres from Carcassonne. The place is spotless, everything works and the owners are always available with helpful considered advice. Many hotels and Airbnb establishments could do well to try and adopt a similar approach to their customers, cleanliness and maintenance... Chapeau Kathy etc Eric! Our stay was simply wonderful, we really enjoyed in the beautiful garden fantastically perfumed by an abundance of flowers and herbs (see pictures), or relaxing by the pool after our daily excursion sipping a variety of local wines and beers. The breakfast was first class, with local jams, cheeses, charcuterie, eggs etc..and of course delicious buttery croissants and a variety of french breads from local bakeries. The restaurant next door 'S Comme' is well worth a visit, we dined there on our first night which and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our room was well decorated, spacious, clean, everything worked from the heated radiator to the air conditioning, great shower... I really cannot say that about many places. Very importantly the bed was very comfortable!!! We really benefitted from the change of rhythm, which was a total contrast from the chaos and stress of London; by the third day we were so relaxed that we found ourselves dozing at every opportunity!! A great holiday always leaves you wanting more ......we will be back!!!

Domaine D’Auriac perfectly combines old school charm with family like warmth. The building is beautiful and rooms are spacious. The owner and her family are around to attend to every details. Staff are superbly knowledgeable and helpful. The swimming pool is beautiful AND big with lovely environment. It is 5 mins drive to the Cite and yet feels like an oasis. Last but not the least, the restaurant is fantastic - authentic, innovative menu all reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Didnt have breakfast on any occassion, just not a breakfast person. I find location excellent ,we come and go thru carcassonne regularly. My daughter a nd family first experienced your hotel when they had an emergency in France, she passed it to me, I've passed it to my sister etc . We always enjoy it, we "get what it says on the tin", and it's super value.
