We stayed at Kern in Seytroux to get away from the busier ski towns around the Porte du Soleil. We were away for just 2 days of skiing and were looking for one night accommodation. Kern was the perfect choice! The town is super quiet, the rumble of the river by our window put us soundly to sleep. The room was lovely. The bonus was dinner at the restaurant. We eat out a lot and our 5 course meal was superb and beats out our favorite restaurants. The staff are very accommodating and were able to ensure we had our breakfast earlier than normal for us to get back out to the ski hill. We would return to enjoy the area more and do some hiking - another stay and chance to eat at Kern would definitely be part of the plan! We arrived in the evening and left early in the day so didn't get a chance to enjoy the beautiful country-side.

Very perfect! This is a truly owner-managed accommodation where you can feel that the owner is still hands-on and genuinely passionate about serving guests. Sadly, this kind of dedication is rare these days—please keep it that way! Guests can always tell whether service is done out of duty or from the heart, and here it’s clearly the latter. We felt very well looked after. The room was good and spotlessly clean. Breakfast didn’t have an overwhelming variety, but it had everything you need to start the day right. Parking is conveniently right outside the door, and the location is wonderfully quiet.

Amazing welcome from everyone: the host, staff and fellow guests at Les Touristes, and from everyone we spoke to around the village (all French). The rooms were of a larger size than I was expecting for the price, the bed was comfy and the food was great. The room service lady made everything immaculate each day - thanks! Abondance itself is a pretty little village with half a dozen restaurants that I saw on the main strip. There's also a ski hire shop (which we didn't use), a pharmacy and a bar or two. Unfortunately the ski lifts in Abondance were closed due to lack of snow, but we suspected this might be the case given the altitude and the fact it was early March. We drove up to Châtel or Pres-du-Joux instead. There was plenty of parking behind the hotel which made things easy for us, although there's a regular (free) bus service too. I can wholeheartedly recommend Les Touristes and Abondance itself to other travellers. I hope to return soon.

Very friendly and warm welcome and staff especially Maddie were great. Breakfast was a good selection of fruits, meats, cheeses, toast, baguette, etc. Girls loved playing pool before going out each night.
