Our room had an amazing view - it definitely is worth paying the extra couple of EUR. You can hear water running on the river and ‘waterfalls‘ nearby, as well as the church bell - something nice for me, but perhaps others may disagree. The bathroom was updated and the hotel’s location is excellent. Dinner and breakfast were really good, even if the restaurant’s menu felt a little limited. They organise Museum tours only for guests but we had to leave earlier. There was a temporary art exhibition in the breakfast area.

well appointed apartment. Old stone building and deep plan and going back to small courtyard meant it was pleasantly cool while outside was a heat wave. Communal stairway and courtyard was very damp and smelt as such, but apartment seemed well insulated.

Very small village and the hotel had previously advised us that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evenings. Only place to eat was a Pizza takeaway which was very good. The hotel owner came and opened up to let us into the hotel (we were the only people staying) Breakfast was okay.

We thoroughly enjoyed the exceptional view from the spacious and well-equipped apartment on the quiet little street. We appreciated the tasteful decor, especially in the bedroom, and Nel's kindness and attentiveness. Our stay wasn't long enough to see everything the region has to offer, but we might very well return!

The idyllic setting, the old village clinging to the...

The idyllic setting, the old village clinging to the mountainside, the houses perched above the Bourne River. As a gateway to the Vercors Massif, it's the perfect spot. Spending a night at the Hôtel du Musée de l'Eau is a great opportunity to explore the area before heading back up into the mountains.

A pretty little village, very typical and original.

A pretty little village, very typical and original. However… in the first two weeks of September, few shops were open. Even the Vival supermarket was closed on Tuesday afternoon. Only one bar was open. Very few restaurants were open, and when one was, they refused credit card payments. We received a very friendly welcome at the tourist office and received excellent advice, which we followed.

Beautiful view from the hotel and the terrace, which is elevated above the river and the beach on the opposite bank. Superb view of the hanging houses from the hotel. It's a shame that this terrace is closed until 7:00 PM.

An exceptional village nestled between the Bourne and Vernaison rivers. Starting point for numerous hiking and mountain biking trails. The stunning Cascade Blanche waterfall is a must-see (an easy one-hour walking loop).

Although the village is poorly maintained in terms of housing, it possesses a genuine charm. The surrounding area is worth exploring, particularly the village of Saint Antoine l'Abbaye and the Choranche cave. We had dinner at the hotel in the evening. The village is narrow, nestled between the mountains. We would definitely return.

Parking was in a small courtyard outside the hotel. We arrived early and were given immediate acces to our rooms. Hotel is situated next to the river with a nice walk along the banks. The restaurant was happy to accomodate a gluten free request from one of our party for the evening meal by exchanging items on the menu.

Everything! Pont en Royans is amazing, this hotel is fabulous, the owners and staff are lovely, the pool is a bonus, the rooms and the views are beautiful, super comfortable bed, the breakfast is generous, the restaurant food is superb and great value
