Harald & Monique were incredibly welcoming hosts. The room was comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was wonderful, you could really tell it was good quality, homemade/ local produce. It is a superb bastide with many "artisan" shops and beautiful little streets. The brewery "biere de la bastide" is not to be missed. Fabulous Sunday lunch with live music all year. Ample parking.

Beautiful historic well kept village on grid layout. Nice restaurants and small shops. Has two small supermarkets for provisions a butcher and veg shop wine and local delicacies. Market Thursday. Lovely local people. Would recommend privilege restaurant to eat offering local food to a high standard in a typically French setting. Nice walks from village for those who like walking or running. Good base for seeing the dordogne area by car. Historic market square nice to have a drink in in season. You can buy a map at the Monparzier tourist centre in the square showing walks which are marked by coloured markers. Two bakeries for daily croissants bread and lovely cakes and sandwiches. Local filling station just out of top end of villages on Road to Bergerac.

We had a print of Monpazier from over 25 years ago and...

We had a print of Monpazier from over 25 years ago and promised one day to visit. It's remained unchanged and was beautiful. Highly recommend having a wine or other drink in the market square and watch the world go by at a pace so much slower than here in England.

I thought this might have been a bit too far from other...

I thought this might have been a bit too far from other sites we wanted to visit, but it was perfect. Less touristy and much more charming. We spent a day in the village square enjoying shopping and learning about the history. Several great restaraunts( Michelin star)and cafes to choose from. So much more relaxing and enjoyable. Our favorite place and would gladly return.

A really beautiful historic town/village, with a fantastic sense of having walked back to medieval times in the main square and two main streets. Plenty of great places to eat (Restaurant Eleanore / Privilege du perigord / Bistrot 2), and a range of high quality arts, crafts, antiques and food shops on offer. Fantastic marklet too.

We loved this beautiful and most beautifully managed BandB in the picturesque setting of Monpazier. A highlight of our short holiday. Edell and John were perfect hosts. This is a listed building so quite a few steps up to our bedroom, which was delightful. Such a comfortable bed with crisp linen. The room had a little porch where we could sit and enjoy the view and drink a little wine we had brought. Edell prepared a delicious and plentiful breakfast and we enjoyed good conversation with our fellow guests in the morning.

What a superb apartment La Maison Anglaise is with everything you could possibly need. The attention to detail to make our stay comfortable was outstanding. Derek the owner is so accommodating and went the extra mile for which we were so grateful. We have been to Monpazier numerous times over recent years but this was our first time at La Maison Anglaise…….it won’t be our last. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending to friends and family. We appreciated the warm greeting and helpful tips on places to visit on our travels. The breakfast, including bread and viennoiseries from the local boulangerie was superlative. Monpazier itself is not to be missed (but avoid Mondays when most restaurants and shops are shut or close early).
