During my short (10-night) tour of Normandy and Brittany, I stayed at six different hotels, some budget hotels, others more expensive, some good but others less so. It is remarkable that the Logis Hôtel Fontaine, which was the least expensive, was one of the best. Of course it doesn’t compare with hotels charging up to €80+ for dinner – one would hardly expect it to. I started staying here on Tuesday nights a couple of years ago, prior to catching the Wednesday morning sailing from Roscoff to Plymouth, for which an early check-in is required. It is an easy 30-minute drive from the hotel to the port. The hotel is run by a couple, the wife of whom speaks excellent English. My room was of sufficient size for a short stay and had a good workspace, with facilities for making hot drinks. The bathroom was large with good quality fittings and a full-size walk-in shower with two heads – in effect a wet-room that would probably be useful for handicapped guests. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent – a tasty paté, a Brittany sausage and a trio of cheeses, washed down with coffee and cognac. Because of my early departures, I have never sampled breakfast here, but on my next trip, I shall stay for two nights and explore the locality I strongly recommend this hotel
