Houlgate was the nicest discovery in the Normandy region.
Houlgate was the nicest discovery in the Normandy region. It's a small town/city that is absolutely beautiful, the beach is huge so its not crowded, one can walk for kilometres. The houses are perfectly restored and preserved as in the old times, because they have been passed from one generation in the family to another....and this for the last 400 years at least. People are VERY friendly, there are nice boutiques, and you find quite a few of top-rated restaurants; and otherwise, nice creperies and simple pizzerias (for all budgets). The home was in a beautiful, quiet setting and had everything we needed for our young family. The beds were very comfy and the host provided stair gate, cot and high chair for our toddler. It truly was a home from home.
