Tastefully decorated and very spacious room which had everything we wanted . . The bed was very large and extremely comfortable . Chez Jack is in an excellent location within Confolens. Breakfasts were excellent , really good choice and everything fresh . The hosts were lovely, couldn’t do enough for us . Would definitely return to Chez Jack .

Location was perfect in centre of village within walking distance of all amenities. Everything you could possibly need was provided in the Gite. It is beautifully furnished throughout and the large enclosed garden has plenty of shade. Communication with the owner was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. Highly recommended property.

On arrival we were had a very warm welcome by Elise and Richard. We felt very much at home and so did Sausage. Elise went out of her way to prepare and enhance our takeaway Carrefour dinner and definitely her special touch made a difference in the flavour. Thank you so much. Their Chambre d’hotes is beautifully decorated and situated next to the river. The bedrooms are very comfortable. With such a beautiful shower we just found that the water pressure didn’t give the full experience. And it was cold in the bathroom. An easy remedy like a bathroom bar heater would be appreciated. The parking is very close by and it was easy to park briefly in front of their door to offload the luggage. All in all it was a wonderful experience! We love to come back.

Lovely little town we arrived just before the annual music...

Lovely little town we arrived just before the annual music festival to view a property for sale. Based on what we experienced including Confolens, it’s indoor market building, the outdoor amphitheater, the riverside bars and eateries, the well kept commune areas and helpful welcoming French and English people we are buying.

Confolens is a pretty but small town.

Confolens is a pretty but small town. It is not great for restaurant choice out of season but we would stay in the area again as we found a nice place to eat and it was easy to walk into town from where we stayed. In summer it would be a good base to explore the area.

We only stayed two nights, passing through.

We only stayed two nights, passing through. Small town with few bars, cafes and restaurants, but quite sleepy with a lot of properties, sadly, boarded up. Still had charm about it. There is a castle / château at Confolens St Germain a short drive away, or a 1-hr walk each way. Great for a short stay.

I really don’t want to review this gem of a place for purely...

I really don’t want to review this gem of a place for purely selfish reasons. Great hosts and a lovely building very convenient for the village. We stayed as part of a tour on motorcycles with a group of friends, there’s even a garage for the bikes. Had we known in advance we we would have stayed for a few days, however we will be back at some point. Try the honey while you’re there as well, it’s lovely. Highly recommended.

The receptionist, and bar person was very friendly, welcomed me with my bad French, with her great English and helped me with the storage of my bicycle. Hotels are rare on the EuroVelo3 (Scandiberique) in this region so I was glad of a clean and airy room with a comfortable bed, a fine vegetarian pizza in the hotel restaurant along with a comprehensive breakfast to prepare me for a 70ks ride to Chauvigny via EV3. Thanks for a great overnight stay 🙏🙏 5 stars

Everything! Ideally located in the centre of Confolens, right next to the free car park. Lovely period house with interesting features, very friendly and helpful hostess, who couldn’t have done more. Huge bedroom and shared lounge with TV, excellent huge continental breakfast with tons of choice! We loved staying there!

Picked this b&b as a first night stop-over on our way to the South so we could visit Confolens. It was so peaceful and relaxed that we will make it a regular stop on our way to and from our house. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful, our only disappointment was we didn’t have time to see the bees - next time!

Great location and excellent host. Parking is directly outside the hotel. The decor was in fitting with the period property. Only stayed one night wished it had been longer as passing through, would highly recommend!!!
