We had a really nice stay. The apartment is spacious, well-equipped and comfortable. Also very clean with good wifi. The apartment is on the edge of Cauterets so there was no problem with parking outside. The hosts live below the apartment but it is very well constructed so you never hear each other. The host communicated very well and was always responsive. The views from the apartment are amazing- you can see mountains all around and at night in the street the stars are astounding (at least for someone coming from the light polluted UK !)

Amazing place to base yourself for time in the Pyrenees.

Amazing place to base yourself for time in the Pyrenees. We stayed for a week and could have stayed a few more days. Tons of hikes, waterfalls, water activities, and climbing within an hour's drive (but many places are much closer than that). My one piece of advice would be to make dinner reservations ahead of time or order your takeout early because most places fill up really fast and even the pizza places stopped taking orders early in the evening because they filled up so quickly! It's a great place though, and we really enjoyed our time there.

Cauterets is lovely town in the middle of the Pyrenees with...

Cauterets is lovely town in the middle of the Pyrenees with amazing views of the mountains. A good base if you like hiking or cycling. It has a market with lots of yummy food, bakeries, restaurants and other shops. There are quite a few hotels and lots of apartments, so a great summer destination.

I was in Cauterets to do some walks.

I was in Cauterets to do some walks. In the four days I was there in June 2025 there were two days of low cloud which restricted the type of walk that could be done, but also two clear, sunny days which allowed more choice. The climate in the area means that there is no certainty about the type of weather you may get. It is a pleasant village with a good selection of restaurants and good bus connectivity. The tourist office is helpful and English is spoken.

We visited in mid summer as a base for walking in the mountains. It was hot and busy, but not so busy that it felt crowded or unpleasant. The nice thing about Cauterets is that one feels very much in the mountains, and indeed there are pleasant walks to do into the mountains directly from the town. It's an attractive, friendly town, with lots of bars and restaurants, cafes, a supermarket etc. We loved it.

We visited this winter sports resort in the summer.

We visited this winter sports resort in the summer. It was quite quiet, but the place surely comes alive in winter. The hiking trails nearby are amazing, and the town itself was very charming. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful old town center.

We booked the hotel last minute as a prior booking cancelled at very short notice. The hotel is as described, easy to find, comfortable, clean, great location. The hotel is family run, they were absolutely lovely and so helpful. The owner took time out to tell us about Cauterets history the history of local buildings and whilst only he spoke English it was easy to communicate. We would stay again in a heartbeat. Photo is taken outside the front of the hotel.

This was really a great experience and should stay 2 more nights. Hotel has a lot of history and soul and it is run by passionate family. Definitely take the dinner option as this was probably one of the best meals we had in France. Breakfast also top. The location is beautiful.
