FAQs about hotels in Bordeaux

A Taste to Suit Everyone’s Palette

Raise your wine glass and toast to the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. Having produced wine since the 8th century, it’s fair to say the second largest wine producer in the world is worth the trip for the vin alone. The city itself has spread outwards, rather than upwards, and the result is a very pretty town centre, filled with stone mansions and terraced housing comparable to Paris.

Cultured Bordeaux is filled with museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art and Musee D'Aquitaine. The streets provide an equally interesting exhibition of fine architecture including the Victory Arch and the Aquitaine Bridge.

On the shores of the river lies the Les Chartrons district, which is a blend of ferry boat rides, picturesque views and buzzing nightlife while the pubs and cafes in the La Victoire district are frequented by students.

A tour of the famous vineyards is probably on the itinerary and this can be accomplished by visiting the wineries and châteaux privately or as part of a tour. You can also worship the wine gods at the Bordeaux Wine Festival held during the summer.

Visitors can easily make the short trip to the heart of Bordeaux from the Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport. With 70 hotels and bed & breakfasts available, Booking.com allows you to discover the vibrant and friendly heart of the vineyard region.

Bordeaux is a perfect place to experience a classic French...

Bordeaux is a perfect place to experience a classic French city on foot (it very much favours the pedestrian with its wide walkways and carefully structured tram system). Situated on the banks of a beautiful river, it has so much to offer - art and culture, entertainment venues, daily markets offering fresh food and other produce, and an array of shopping areas ranging from high end brands, to more familiar 'high street' names and a wealth of individual and specialist shops. And of course, don't forget the many, many restaurants and other outlets from which to indulge in every type of food and drink from France and many other countries - with prices to suit every purse. It has a modern, efficient and very affordable tram system, linking the centre to the airport and train station, as well as further afield. Plus there's good bus transport and car parking. In spite of its popularity, it is a very clean city taking pride in its appearance. It feels safe and friendly. Overall, Bordeaux is just beautiful to look at, with fabulous buildings and relaxed cafe (and wine) culture at every turn. Come and indulge - but be prepared to rack up those steps as there is so much to do!!

Great location for choice of food, every nation seemed to be represented. We found some excellent places at very good prices. We didn't find many places for breakfast though. Lovely architecture, well lit up at night. We were there for the Christmas market and it didn't disappoint. Lovely view of the city from the ferris wheel. Bordeaux as you would expect is very busy and most places to sit outside were by the side of traffic. Lots of rubbish everywhere though, bins overflowing and we even saw rats. but it is on the riverside.

A beautiful and elegant city in the old part.

A beautiful and elegant city in the old part. Lots to see and the surrounding countryside is brilliant, we were there in September (after the peak tourist season) but everything was still open and the weather was fantastic.

Bordeaux is a fantastic city for a good break and the places to visit in the old Bordeaux are numerous. I didn't think it was an expensive city to stay in. By night or by day Bordeaux has no match! The place de la bourse, the Place de l'opera, the St Pierre old town, the Quinconces...what a pleasant city to visit with the over a mile long Rue St Catherine. Ideal getaway town!

Visit the retired submarine base as an example of innovative reuse plus the entrancing immersive art experience. We also loved the pay what you will tour with Rosie. The heritage buildings, parks and wine/food options make this a wonderful city -- particularly as it is less crowded than Paris. The people are very welcoming.

Excellent location, a short level walk from the tram station at Quinconnes (tram from station). In the heart of Bordeaux, so only a short walk to most places. Room was not big, but at this sort of price you don't expect to be able to play tennis in a city centre hotel room. Friendly helpful staff, breakfast was fine with gluten free bread freely aavilable.
