Close to the highway, there is free parking directly in front of the hotel. Rooms were very clean with comfortable beds. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. BTW: There is a small restaurant directly opposite. The food was good, the price reasonable and staff was also very nice. Overall, everything was great and as expected for our short stay. We would book here again at any time.

The location is very nice. Very close to the city center. Moreover, Besançon is a very historic city you can reach each historic places by walking. Breakfast is nice. Classic French croissants and traditional French cheese. The ladies in the reception are very kind and helpful. Thanks to each of them.

Besançon pleasantly surprised us.

Besançon pleasantly surprised us. We usually just passed through on our way to Dijon or Lyon, but stopping here was definitely worth it! The historic center has a wonderful atmosphere, highlighted by the Église Sainte-Madeleine de Besançon. Make sure to allow enough time for the local Museum of Archaeology and Fine Arts. The collection is extensive but well worth the time. The military fortifications around the city, including the Citadel (a UNESCO World Heritage site), were also an interesting highlight. The only downside is that the city is not a major tourist destination, so finding souvenirs can be a bit difficult, and even at the Citadel the selection is rather limited.

I didn't have the time to visit most of the inner city, but...

I didn't have the time to visit most of the inner city, but from what I can tell it's rather average, somewhat well-kept but far from ambitious in its design. Probably best for one to focus on Dijon, although Besançon could still be explored on your way to the mountains

Very nice place, Citadel is fantastic.

Very nice place, Citadel is fantastic. Besançon is not a touristic place - and i loved it the most. Food is excellent in all the palces we visited. Very advisable to check what activities are in the Citadel the days you visit.

We stayed one night, on a last minute decision.

We stayed one night, on a last minute decision. The town is really attractive and although there is not a huge amount to do, it is a great place to wander. The Musee des Beaux arts is absolutely outstanding - a complete surprise. We would have stayed longer if we had known how nice the town iss, especially to explore the countryside around,.

It rained more than was good this time.

It rained more than was good this time. Get a pass for the tram. If there are more than one of you then get a pass each rather than putting all the credits on one pass. If it is running take the boat around the Boucle, preferably on a good day. Most of the captive animals have now been taken aways from the Citadelle and that is good, it wasn't right for the lions and tigers in there or the monkeys. Don't feel bad about the rabbits, guinea pigs and poultry - they love interacting with the public. The hen was really proud showing off her new chick. If the weather is such that you can eat outside then eat outside. The food is always good, it would be hard to get a bad or expensive meal in Besak. Use the trains to have a day in Montbeliard and visit the Peugeot Adventure at Sochaux. At Montbeliard Station get on the bus, route 3, about 3 euros each. Likewise a day in Belfort is always good.

We went to Besancon to visit a friend and had only time for...

We went to Besancon to visit a friend and had only time for a short walk around the city. We visited Victor Hugo's birthplace which was very informative, and we were delighted to see some Roman ruins preserved in the center of the city. We didn't have time to visit the museum of the Resistance and would very much like to visit it on our next trip there.

it is a 1 night type of hotel not much to do or see in besancon and the hotel is fine but not I pressure the value you get for the money is very good though so it you want to stay for 1 or 2 nights: this is a good deal hotel and the breakfast is quite good as well
