The apartment was in a perfect location and incredibly cozy. Ay as a town was also absolutely lovely. The views from the apartment were truly idyllic. There was a bakery and a butcher shop right across the street, and in the same block, a wine bar and another charming bakery. Just a few dozen meters away, there was a small grocery store. We were more than happy with our choice – an absolutely wonderful three-night stay.

The room was very nice and it's very close to all the champagne houses in Aÿ, but the real differentiator is the staff. So very keen to make sure we had a nice stay, very serviceminded. Meet our need for an early check in and very early checklist out. Presented examples of what to see and do, helped out with ironing. All was done even though they speek very little English and we no French. Old school service and kindness, we loved it!

It was very quiet and good for walking my dog.

It was very quiet and good for walking my dog. We had to go to Epernay for dinner when we wanted to dine out because most of restaurants and other things were closed in Athis due to the end of year. We would like to visit there in spring or summer next time.

There is a great restaurant 3km away called La Table du 18 -- it's a really good example of a modern French establishment. The owner Olivier used to work in the Champagne and wine growing industry, so is very knowledgeable about wine. I could've talked to him all day. The village is relatively remote, so a car or cycle is imperative. Had we stayed another evening, I would've ordered a pizza from a local van -- signposted on the main road. French pizza vans make excellent pizza.
