Our stay at Gáldu was truly magical, from the moment we arrived we were met with such a warm welcome. The staff were so accommodating and friendly, they taught us about Finish and Sami culture which was brilliant. Our room was spotless and had the most amazing views of the forest. The Gáldu team organised excursions for us to do which were fantastic (snowmobiling, ice fishing, husky sledding) and gave us other suggestions about what to do on the days we didn’t have anything booked. The food was exceptional and we went for full board, we were truly spoiled by each person we met. Our beds were so comfortable and we had the most amazing sleep each night. We spent every afternoon enjoying the spa which was extremely luxurious. They really made our trip so special. The hotel is the perfect viewing spot for the northern lights, we saw them so clearly from our bedroom on the last night.

A Magical Stay in Lapland Our stay at this cozy one-bedroom chalet was unforgettable! Surrounded by snowy forests and offering stunning views of the northern lights, it was the perfect winter escape. The chalet was well-equipped with a crackling fireplace and an excellent sauna. The staff went above and beyond, and the traditional Finnish wood-smoked sauna with the invigorating outdoor cold plunge was a true highlight. We even spotted reindeer wandering near the cottage, adding to the magic! The staff were warm and helpful, offering great tips for local activities. A big thank you to the staff at smoke sauna for motivating me to jump into the cold plunge pool :). If you’re looking for a peaceful and authentic Lapland retreat, this is the place to stay.

Great resort place, west village right next to husky farm and horse farm. Decent planetarium also, but they need to learn a bit about running these shows :). Do install the Aurora app if you are there for this. The Aurora alarm in rooms don't work, or atleast didn't work for me.

Saariselka is a wonderland in winter.

Saariselka is a wonderland in winter. You can easily get all the required things such as food from K-market. There are lots of activities you can do in Saariselka such as skiing, snowshoeing, Ice Karting, bowling, Aurora Hunting tours, etc. You can easily reach here from Rovaniemi City by using public bus. There is a Ski bus that runs between Saariselka village and Saarselka Ski resort. I did my beginner ski lesson here. It was great. I spent my Christmas holidays here and most things are available to do. I did my skiing on Christmas day itself.

We spent a total of 7 days in Lapland. 2 near Ivalo, 3 in Kiilopaa, 2 in Saariselka proper. As a family some liked Ivalo better, others Kiilopaa, and others Saariselka. We stayed for 7 days to maximize our chances to see the Northern Lights and were fortunate to see them for 2 nights in a row. If we weren’t concerned about seeing Northern Lights, in terms of special “Lapland specific” experiences, I would have been satisfied with maybe 2 or 3 nights (husky, reindeer, snowmobile, ice fishing). But, if you spend extra days, there’s plenty to do — ice karting, cross country ski, snow shoe-Ing, ski/snowboarding, Siida museum, etc.

Amazing resort away from the hustle and bustle and commerciality of busier Lapland resorts. Lovely nature walks, lots of family activities like husky rides, skiing, snow shoeing etc. and very cost accommodation.

Saariselka was fabulous in August, there were very few other...

Saariselka was fabulous in August, there were very few other tourists around so it was lovely and quiet. Lots of people drive up to the highest point for the sunset but our Glass Cube was just a few hundred metres away, on the other side of the hill, so we could just saunter up to enjoy the view. Met reindeer on the way back.

Its very very Beautiful ,Do the Northern Lights chasing & the Husky Rides with Arctic Timetravels . They are the best. Saariselka is Untouched, amazing & virgin. Difficult to express in words as you should visit to feel the place, its Heaven on Earth.

We fell in love with this small cottage 6’ away from Saariselka, in the middle of the Lappish forest. The structure is very cleaned and fitted with everything necessary, including a private sauna, a fireplace, wood for the fire, and sleighs. Right behind the house is a clearing with no light pollution where we could see the northern lights. The owner is very kind and available. Highly recommended for a magical stay.

Besides great hotel facility, the activities are actually the best! We were very happy with our husky run and snowmobile experience. They provide good outfits that keep us warm. The Finland longest toboggan run is 3 min walk away. Ski resort is just a few minutes drive away. You can also find supermarket or different restaurant there. But we find the hotel's Finland souvenir is better!

Location of Ruokto's apartment is excellent. There's everything around right from good restaurants to sovenier shop. We were lucky to see the Auroras just outside the home on the very 1st night. The house is just 50 mts from the inter city bus stop. The house has everything that we needed. A very comfortable and super clean house. If in Saariselka, best home to stay.

Great and quiet place to spend Christmas. You need a car to get food in Saariselkä, so that you can enjoy the cosy accommodation and prepare your food in the well equipped kitchen. You'll also find everything you need for using the sauna.
