The breakfast is fantastic. Homely cooked and is a Spanish variety of sandwiches and sweets, egg, salamis; everything you would want for a European breakfast to be. A lovely chef is present and can help with anything you might want for your breakfast. The location is up on the hill. Be prepared to walk up the hill. The hotel itself is a family run, exceptionally clean and truly rustic. The view of the ocean is marvellous; you are having breakfast and dinner looking at the fantastic scenery. For hot days there is a swimming pool and a spacious outdoor bar. Dinner is served with a variety of local fresh seafood. You can try local seafood delicacy with local Galician wines.

FAQs about hotels in Santiago de Compostela

A Valuable City with Rich History

The city of Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia and the place where the Apostle St. James is buried. The city’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its distinguished old monuments around the Cathedral and the tomb of St. James.

Made of granite, the spectacular Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela features massive bell towers and statues of St. James. The Obradoiro facade of the Cathedral is one of the most exceptional examples of the Spanish Baroque period.

Surrounded by magnificent buildings, the monumental square of Plaza do Obradoiro is one of the most historic squares in the world and the heart of Santiago. You can stay in one of the hotels, guest houses or apartments Booking.com offers nearby this majestic square.

The final destination of the Medieval pilgrimage route (El Camino de Santiago), this city is the best place to enjoy fresh fish and traditional Galician bread. Galicia is the seafood capital of Spain and the right place to savor Salpicón de Mar (seafood salad) and Pulpo á Feira (octopus cooked with salt).

The Christian pilgrimage route of the Way of St. James passes by Santiago de Compostela Airport, which is 16 km away from Galicia’s capital.

Santiago de Compostela is the terminus for all the Caminos...

Santiago de Compostela is the terminus for all the Caminos in Spain and is a good place to decompress after all the walking. The food is great, particularly the empanadas from El Trebol. The Pilgrim's Mass at the cathedral is worth attending (even if you don't speak Spanish). And if you are a Geocacher there are some fun Geocaches in unexpected places!

Santiago has numerous places of interest, churches, buildings, plazas, streets, monuments, statues and parks along with lot's of places to eat be it cafés, bar's or restaurants, some serving up excellent food, the best way to see Santiago is on foot through the many small streets & lanes where vehicles are prohibited.

I stayed for 3 days in SDC after my finishing the Camino Frances. I love the cathedral, visiting museums and churches, going to mass, meeting other pilgrims in the square, visiting and trying different restaurants and bars in the town. Spain has a very rich history and have enjoyed going through towns along the camino and finally finishing in SDC.

The Cathedral is a must, as is one of the daily Mass sessions (I'm an atheist but still appreciate the architecture and the rituals). The cathedral roof-top walk is worth attending, with beautiful views. However, it is also worth noting that the guide explains everything in Spanish, which is a shame. They could provide earpieces which translate into your language of choice. Santiago is a very easy city to walk around. There are plenty of good restaurants & tapa bars. I had a great piece of Veal at The Steak House is worth visiting.

Well worth exploring.

Well worth exploring. Still busy in late October but not overcrowded. Would have been even better if we had arrived on foot having completed a compostela. We would probably consider it excessively busy had we visited in the summer when 5000+ walkers arrive each day.

We loved the location of this booking.

We loved the location of this booking. It was close to the cathedral, and restaurants. However, it was quiet enough to get a good night's sleep. There were several restaurants that were open early enough to get a yummy cafe con leche.

Clean, 2 large bedrooms, location is ok 10 mins walk from old town. Hotel staff booked me a cab which was great for when I left. Being out of old town can feel a bit more like actually being in Spain not in California which is a plus. Receptionists were very nice. I was therefore surprised and really disappointed that a simple email request I made the day I left was completely ignored by the hotel, I doubt it would have been ignored if I had been a more posh hotel customer (not one from the boon docks flat.

This hotel is the best, most considerate and most cost-effective one among all the hotels in Spain I have stayed in. There is a restaurant on the third floor where you can cook by yourself. If you have been staying in refugios prior to arrival in Santiago, this place will seem luxurious. If you are used to nice hotels, it is adequate. Things work, breakfast is ok, and the location is very good, being near a stop for the airport bus, very near the old town and close to nice restaurants.
