We had a lovely room on the 2nd floor, with balcony. Just a beautiful view of the valley when wakening up in the morning. The food was very good and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Ideal place for hiking and getting away from the rat-race.

Lovely vibes, more of a mountain refuge than a hostel. Friendly staff, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms. Good location at the end of the Ruta del Cares and a good starting point for other day hiking trips. Good dinner and breakfast not included but served just outside. Good views of the mountains and lovely library with a selection of books mainly in Spanish. Very good value for money.

In June I spent a week in this hotel with my husband on a hill walking trip to the Picos. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return. Our room was very nice and spacious overlooking the river with great views of the Picos. There is a great pool area which we used on days when we weren’t out and about. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Martha who was so warm and kind and treated us to a nightcap for our wedding anniversary. There is a really nice relaxing lounge area which includes a bar area and also serves coffee. An outdoor area, off this lounge area, is also perfect for chilling and listening to the babbling stream with great views of the Picos.

The hotel is close to the entrance of the Ruta del Cares, so for hikers it is perfect. The rooms are small, but OK. The local host, Manolo is extremely friendly and helpful. The local restaurant is fine. We had even glutene-free bread for breakfast. Sausage or cheese was not on the menu, but otherwise Manolo refilled our baskets and cups when we asked, so it was fine.

Posada de Valdeon is a beautiful old 5 bedroom house, in a stunning location. Everything we needed to self cater was there. In a small village with a delightful bar that served delicious food. It is high up in the Picos mountains.

We had a very good dinner at Hotel Cumbres de Valdeon.

We had a very good dinner at Hotel Cumbres de Valdeon. Everything is within easy walking distance. Roads to the town and to other towns and trails are narrow but beautiful and we found other drivers to be very courteous!
