Wonderful historic hotel with attentive staff and excellent food. I particularly liked the mattresses and when I asked the hotel staff and told me that the hotel was recently purchased and the new owners, changed everything out, including brand new mattresses. I had the best night sleep! Lots of beautiful nature walks in the surrounding area. The town itself is a gem. Very historic and beautiful architecture. Food is extraordinary. Be sure to try their steak. It was better than steaks I’ve had at well known steak houses around the world. Terrific wine selection. I will be coming back! If you’re reading this and thinking about staying at this hotel, my recommendation is book it. You’ll love it.

We've been to Montanejos six times; we like it. What we liked least was the impression the banks of the Mijares River give now, covered with weed barrier fabric, apparently to kill the reeds (I don't think it works).

If you go to Montanejos, always bring food, because if...

If you go to Montanejos, always bring food, because if eating is difficult, dinner is worse; either you reserve a table or you'll go hungry, as the kitchens close too early. There are many things to see in that town; the waterfall they advertise in photos only exists in photos because water never flows.

The setting is phenomenal, the scenery is wonderful, and being able to swim in winter is a novel and surprising experience for the adventurous, of course. The locals didn't treat us very well... in general... Here, if you don't make a reservation for lunch, you won't get a meal... we'd never experienced that before.

The site is really nice, but there are plenty of activities to do. There's a lack of French translations, and if you don't speak Spanish, it's difficult to communicate even in English!

I would have stayed longer at a different hotel, and it...

I would have stayed longer at a different hotel, and it would have been cheaper. Two nights used to be affordable, but now the prices are sky-high. I definitely recommend Montanejos, though. For tapas, try the bar La Taberna in the town square; it's very reasonably priced, the waiters are very attentive, and everything is delicious. We ordered three tapas, and they were fantastic.

A magnificent place to spend a few days or a wonderful vacation... a place to relax or where you can do a multitude of activities from hiking to rafting or climbing, with wonderful landscapes and close to rivers... or if you prefer tranquility, take advantage of your stay to go to the spa or wellness center... a place without a doubt to do many things to suit the visitor's taste

This hotel is ideal if you’re visiting for hiking and don’t plan to spend much time indoors. The rooms are spacious and offer stunning views. The spa facilities are a great bonus, providing a relaxing retreat after a day of hiking in the mountains. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The staff were brilliant, very friendly and supportive.but couldn't help thinking they were understaffed for the amount of work taken on with evening parties This is a budget hotel without parking. Parking anywhere on the road or designated parking is a real nightmare. Wouldn't recommend trying.
