The service was fantastic: from a welcome drink to the concierge service in booking a train ticket for me and finding my cheeses that I bought home and left in the mini bar. Breakfast is rich and well-served. The pool and surrounding services are excellent. The hotel is just a few steps from the beach and about 1 km from the historical centre, very convenient.

FAQs about hotels in Málaga

The Colourful Soul of the Costa del Sol

The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.

There’'s also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.

A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.

From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

If you want to explore only the most iconic landmarks, a 3-4 day trip is more than enough to explore most of the things in this city. Nonetheless the city was very nice with interesting landmarks and history and it being located in southern Spain which is very close to North Africa which gives you a bit of that warm weather. Getting around the city is easy most of the things are walking distance!

I would definitely prefer to vacation in Spain outside the cities and centers, especially during the holidays. 3-4 days is a good length to spend in Malaga, though. You shouldn't expect much from the nearby beaches. It's nice that everything is within walking distance. However, performances and concerts only take place in the second half of the week. There are a huge number of options for dining out, but the quality varies to the extremes. I was surprised that about 5 km east, the prices of restaurants on the beach were 2-3x cheaper. A nice place to walk with many restaurants is at the harbor.

Overrated city with lots of "hype" on social media.

Overrated city with lots of "hype" on social media. Here's something you should know. (unbiased opinion based on own experience). - Public transport and metro - BAD (you'll need a car) - Beaches - BAD (these are not the kind of beaches you'll find in Greece or islands like Palma de Mallorca. The beaches in Malaga are bland and shabby. - Food quality - BAD (I know, I did not expect that either). Nothing you can't get anywhere else. No authentic local cuisine experience. - Customer Service - The locals don't know what this means, - Hospitality - Well, I guess it depends, but the locals are not the kindest people. Most of them don't even speak English. I struggled to order food at restaurants. - Bonus tip - Do not order Italian dishes there. The Carbonara I was served at the Picasso Bar Tapas at La Plaza de la Merced would get the chef stoned to death in Italy. If you play padel, Malaga has some of the best coaches and some of the best padel Clubs in Spain.

Málaga is a fantastic city with so many interesting places to explore. Beautifully located by the sea, with amazing food and incredibly friendly people. A perfect place to relax and discover. Getting around the city is mostly done on foot, as all the main attractions are conveniently located in the city center. I also highly recommend the restaurants: Pez Lola, Casa Lola, and Kraken — great food and atmosphere.

Modern boutique like hotel located a few minutes walk from Alameda central station so excellent hotel if arriving by train. About 15/20 minutes walk to old town. Room clean and all amenities provided if anything forgotten eg razor, toothbrush, shoe shine. Excellent breakfast was continental with good variety. Staff pleasant and friendly. Usually someone on reception who spoke English if necessary. There was no bar but an area to the side of reception where you could sit if waiting for a friend. I thoroughly recommend.

An absolutely faultless stay in a beautifully converted and renovated building in the heart of the old town. Fantastic location - minutes away from the Cathedral, and surrounded by amazing places to eat, drink, shop, sightsee. This little boutique hotel is beautifully designed, immaculately clean and with lovely attention to detail. Super comfy room on the 2nd floor. No breakfast option, but fresh pastries, fruit, coffee and juice are available next to reception. Could not find a thing to fault this hotel on - 100% recommended.

The hotel offers an excellent location; you only need to cross a bridge to find yourself in Malaga's Old Town. It's also just a stone's throw from the Mercado de Atarazanas (central market). The hotel lobby is pleasantly and trendily decorated. The price-performance ratio is good, which is why we would definitely return to this hotel.
