The hotel is close to the entrance of the Ruta del Cares, so for hikers it is perfect. The rooms are small, but OK. The local host, Manolo is extremely friendly and helpful. The local restaurant is fine. We had even glutene-free bread for breakfast. Sausage or cheese was not on the menu, but otherwise Manolo refilled our baskets and cups when we asked, so it was fine.

Such a beautiful area with access to some of the best hiking routes in the Picos de Europa National Park. The town is very quaint with all the necessary amenities and a lovely atmosphere for walkers. There is a bus service, but would recommend checking the times in detail before heading off and planning accordingly (or renting a car in order to explore the area with ease).

Arenas is a great little town with bars, restaurants and shops, enough to be able to choose from but not so many as to be too busy. The cultural heritage is well seen and cared for and a short walk around the village exploring, a few local cheese shops to try the queso de Cabrales, or the cheese caves. From here you can do so many things, walks, excursions, climbing, adventures! We ate mostly in our hotel but had a lovely drink and tapas in bar El Raitán.

The town is in the middle of the Picos de Europa.

The town is in the middle of the Picos de Europa. Although not as well-known as some other mountain ranges, the scenery is as good as the Alps, if not better, The town centre is fairly flat with plenty of bars and restaurants. There is a very nice ice cream shop. All the local people we met were very friendly.

A pleasant village in the Picos - provides a better...

A pleasant village in the Picos - provides a better alternative to the busy and more popular Potes and Panes. Eating out is reasoanbly easy, though choice can be a bit limited. Quite a few hotels here and some smaller guest houses too. Scenery in the area is outstanding - I recommend for anything from walking to motorcycling.

We had timed our visit to coincide with the Cabrales cheese and cider festival (last Sunday of August) as we have attended this before and enjoyed it and we were not disappointed; the whole town was buzzing with people, traditional Asturian music and costumes and lots of superb traditional food. There’s a regular bus service to Poncebos from where there is access to lovely walks such as the village of Bulnes (can also be accessed by funicular train) and the stunning Cares Gorge and others

I clearly like this hotel and whenever you choose it never forget it is a 2 Star hotel. The room is big but WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING. Considering that climate change you can find very hot days in arenas de Cabrales and in that case the room is very very hot. For the winter it has heating. Besides that the hotel is very clean with very friendly workers and it is very well located. I really appreciate the friendly and homely atmosphere of the hotel. You can go to many wonderful places nearby and Arenas has some restaurants.

Nice cosy hotel with a great location. Perfect for hiking trips. Pool was so nice, especially after all day hiking. Big choice of delicious breakfasts available, at a very reasonable prices. I really liked the common living room and library with books. Fridge in the room was a big plus.
