Beautiful little town within easy reach of Castalla - if the bus arrives! I had timed my flight into Alicante to coincide with the two buses required: first bus into Alicante city centre, and the second bus from there to Castalla. I waited for half an hour for the first bus, but it never arrived; there was a screen which simply read ‘20+ [minutes until the next bus]’ and never changed for the entire time I waited. In the end, I gave up and got a taxi to Castalla for €65.00, having certainly missed the connecting bus from Alicante to Castalla, so bear in mind that your journey here may not be as smooth as planned! However, once I got here, it was all worth it! Even on foot, virtually everything is within reach, whether it be hiking opportunities in the local countryside, bars and restaurants, or supermarkets and local shops. A car would naturally make things easier in terms of speed of getting around and access to hiking areas that bit too far to otherwise get to, and there are no in-town buses beyond the aforementioned one, so you’re on your own in that regard, but there is a taxi rank, should you wish to save your time and energy for a hike!

Castalla is an excellent starting point for hikes and visits...

Castalla is an excellent starting point for hikes and visits to other towns (Biar, Alcoy, Elda, El Sid, La Mola). It's a quiet place with many amenities (restaurants, a very good Thai restaurant (!), shops, supermarkets, and bakeries). The castle and church are definitely worth a visit, but the old town doesn't have much to offer.

We ate at the Nou Trinquet restaurant, it was very full and we didn't have a reservation, even so they served us very kindly and told us to wait, and we were able to eat wonderfully and very complete.

Stylish hotel complex with old times design and charming atmosphere. Very beautiful and comfortable. The self check-in process was easy. Nice room and shared areas. Large private bathroom. Fully equipped shared kitchen. Air-conditioning, heaters, hot water, wifi, mini fridge, shampoo, bath gel etc - everything is available for a comfortable stay.

An amazing place and experience for relaxation and tranquility. The staff and owners go above and beyond to make the stay even more memorable. If you haven't been to the Hotel Artmonia in Castalla the biggest question is why not ?

We like quite rural settings in nature and this is what we got. The Hotel is a little out of Ibi on an olive farm with a giant fish pond in an old stately house. It’s very nice and modern on the inside- very clean
