AKHNATON Pyramids View Hotel With Rooftop Access & free airport pickup in Cairo has 5-star accommodation with a garden and a bar.

Akhnaton is a brand new hotel located next to the spectacular pyramids of Giza. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped and the roof terrace on the fourth floor is simply magnificent. Breakfast is really good and topped off with an amazing view on the pyramids. The same can be said about dinner, when the sun is setting over the dessert and the pyramids. Next to the hotel is the area where camels and horses are being fed and come to rest after a long day, and thus helps creating the vibrant atmosphere surrounding the hotel. What made this hotel special for us is the people working there. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and they did everything possible to make us feel at home. Also, the mega friendly hotel manager helped us with arranging the transfers to and from the airport and organized the excursions we did. This hotel is highly recommendable for couples and families.

FAQs about hotels in Cairo

Resting Place of Pharaohs

Born of an ancient civilisation, Cairo is a vast metropolis centred around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over it into Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.

The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artefacts, including finds from Tutankhamun’s tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.

East is Islamic Cairo, home to 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk – remember to haggle. The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.

If you want to step out of cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.

Before heading to your Cairo accommodation, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Turkish coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

THE HISTORY is unmatched!!

THE HISTORY is unmatched!! We only had one day to spend at the museum and the pyramids. that was my BIGGEST regret! I would say dedicate one whole day just for museums, and another for pyramids+ other attractions. Shopping at Khan el Khalili was great too for people who enjoys shopping, I just don't like the haggling part. but the stuffs are super cheap tho.

Cairo is a city of 20 million people.

Cairo is a city of 20 million people. It is a mess but also an intriguingly exciting place. If you are an adventurer and would like to experience stuff with your hands and nose and mouth - this is your city. Buzzing all day (especially by night) and people are very kind. As an eastern-european tourist I was getting quite an attention from them. Also - there are scammers all around. If they come to you to help, they often expect some "baksis" :) Keep small notes of money with you if you want to tip them - or otherwise don't let them "help" The Pyramids are an absolute MUST. Incredible experience. If you have the money, hire a local to take you around the city. Otherwise Über transfer is working fine. In the rush hour however, Über drivers may accept only cash..

There is so much to see in Egypt, and we were lucky to be there for the grand opening week of the GEM. Cairo was our jumping off point to see other parts of Egypt. It’s a fascinating place, and the people were lovely. Personally, I wouldn’t bring young children on a trip like this - wait until they are old enough to appreciate what they are seeing. We mainly got around using Uber.

Lovely to see the Pyramids, but Cairo itself is a bit rundown much poverty in the streets, cars very old, no pedestrian crossings, therefore a bit of a hazard to cross roads. Prices are very cheap but some small shops take only cash EGP. Roads, cars and houses are very dusty. The Grand Egyptian Museum a must see especially for the Tutankhamun and the Museum of Civilization for the mummies. Old Cairo excursion really worth it. Enjoyed excursion for cruise on the Nile with dinner, belly dancing and tanoura show.

Cairo is chaotic, crowded, unfathomable to outsiders, and unforgettable. The urban maelstrom is not for the faint of heart, but for those who are willing to surrender to its madness, the rewards are manifold. I highly recommend a guide and a driver (Real Egypt is your top-notch go-to for organizing everything). Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT attempt to drive in Cairo. Do visit both the GEM and the National Museum. Wander the streets of medieval Cairo. Visit mosques from different eras. Of course visit the pyramids at Giza, but don't miss Saqqara for a better experience. Explore the delta and have lunch at The Lotus Farm. Enjoy Cairo in all of its exhausting splendor and squalor!

The hotel is actually the 3th floor of a regular apartment building which is reached by stairs only. From the terrace you have one of the best views of the Pyramids you can get. The owner and personnel are extremely friendly and helpful. We had the junior suite which is a very nice room. In retrospect we paid too much though, about 115 US$ per night. Later on we saw the price was much lower. To earn 5 stars there are some annoying or irritating things to eliminate if possible.

New refurbished hotel. Needs some final touches, but Carlos and his team was wonderfull. Got Egyptian tummy from some bad KFC, but they helped me get the right medicine. Arranged my taxi for collection from airport. Only serve breakfast, its not 5 star, but good value for money and clean. Will use then again on my next visit to Egypt. Wifi was an issue but they resolved it for me. Wifi in Egypt is slow everywhere.

We really enjoyed this small Airbnb close to the Pyramids (Walking distance) Youssef and his staff took care of us with great hospitality and the airport transfer went very well. We stayed on 3 hotels during our stay in egypt and this is the only one that we had a positive experience. The other 2 are both 5 star hotels so Sequoia even with no stars is 1000 times better than some of the big ones.

Fantastic view from the top. The staff are very helpful, they organized all trips we wanted. A half day trip is 30 dollars + tip. Surprisingly good breakfast at the top. Airport shuttle for 20 dollars. The best if you pay Egyptian pound, and change your euro on the black market. 1 euro in the hotel 33 is EGP while on the black market (black market=any shop) 50 EGP.
